It was a great day for dresses yesterday! Our drop off had a lower than usual buzz but a steady crown dropping off. We took in 166 dresses, 10 skirts, 46 shields, and 31 hygiene kits. Additionally, there were scrunchies and hair ties, yo-yo’s, school supplies, baby hats, and 83 pencil pouches! This group never disappoints! A special thanks to Sheila and Melanie for making up for my not being about to cut kits this month. And as always, thanks to our many volunteers who keep things running smoothly during the drop off. My head is still spinning from the big move to the little house so I REALLY needed your back up yesterday. Love to you all and God bless. Look forward to seeing you all again next month!

Even though we met at a temporary location, today’s drop off went without a hitch and we got in so many dresses! With a hefty contribution from Lynn and other remote sewers, we got in 229 dresses. We also had 6 shorts, 16 skirts, and 48 feminine hygiene bags. We also had crocheted hats, hair ties, and panties. No new members today, but we had some great visitors. Lois brought her friend Frank who may try his hand at making a dress after Lois gives him some direction. Adriana, visiting from TX, was delighted to be part of our event and help roll dresses that may go in boxes she helps to pack in upcoming months for A Grain of Joy. A huge thanks to the Men’s Group who were meeting in the room right before us and offered to set up tables for us. These men were so gracious and giving, what a blessing! We had lots of volunteers there today, which was good with all those dresses to roll. Among those helping to ensure things ran smoothly were Sue, Susana, RoseMary, Veronica, Pam, Kate, Sharon, Patty, Nancy, and Brenda. Another great drop off!

Another great 'thank you' letter from Downtown Ecumenical Services Council. They never fail to make us thankful for those who help us complete our mission by getting our dresses to those who need them. God bless those who serve others!

As our first drop off after a hectic holiday season, today was a little slower and such a great time to catch up with many of our sewers. With that said, we still had a great turn out of about 35 people and took in 149 dresses and 6 skirts. We also had hair ties, baby hats, bags for hygiene kits, and yo-yos. Several recent new members joined us for the first time, which is always a great time to share more about the ministry. Melanie and several volunteers packed for a distribution of dresses to go out to Jackson & Jackson Ministries right her in Jacksonville. Thanks, as always, to our great volunteers who ensure the drop offs are a success and to Sue this month for cutting kits. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in February!

Happy New Year! And what a great way to start the new year than seeing a few pictures from one of our distribution partners, Love Sharelove Missons, who took our dresses to the Dominican Republic on a recent mission trip. This group originated from just one person wanting to do good and now she takes a trip every year with friends to provide dental hygiene education and cleanings to hundreds of children every year. She provides clothing, toys, and other items to help enrich their lives while also helping them learn about dental health. Thanks to Mishell and her team for reaching these children and sharing our dresses with them.

It's always a blessing to hear back from those ministries we support thru our dresses. It's even more special when they are right next door in our own community. There are girls in need around the world and our partners like Jackson & Jackson help reach them with bright, happy dresses so they know they are loved.

A Grain of Joy sent these pictures a few days ago of children in Venezuela receiving their Christmas gift bags. I saw so many blessed to participate in this effort by sewing the drawstring bags and then helping to pack them. Our sewers are the best and love to make a positive impact on young children around the world. Merry Christmas!

While the holidays kept many away at yesterday’s drop off, those who dropped off really packed the room. We got in 224 dresses plus 17 skirts, 9 shorts with shirts, 27 hats, 20 shields for hygiene kits, 20 bags for hygiene kits, 35 completed hygiene kits, and 55 panties. And a big thank you to Ceil and Geri for their generous financial donations!! For A Grain of Joy, we got in 100 pencil pouches, 10 packs of tuna, socks, toys, some shoes, slippers, and women’s clothing (from Ceil), and mailed in by Lynn was a big box of school supplies. We welcomed new member Kathleen who stopped by to get the meet us and pick up kits. The drop offs are always a great time to see our dedicated members. We hope to see you all in January when we’ll be kicking off a new year with lots of opportunities to send dresses to girls around the world. Merry Christmas to you all and praying you each have a wonderful time filled with love from family and friends and blessings from God who gives us the greatest gift.

We had a great drop off yesterday. Soooo many dresses – 242!! Additionally, there were shields for hygiene kits and baby hats. But that’s not all - we also got in dolls, hair ties, hats, school supplies and food for A Grain of Joy. 63 pencil pouches were turned in also for A Grain of Joy for their February shipments. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this small but mighty ministry. We welcomed 3 new members – Nancy, Melody, and Rachel, as well as 5 new sewers joining us from the sewing classes. Ale and Mary Kar shared a Bingo event coming up on Nov 8th to raise funds for their ministry, Gratitude Giving Foundation, who also send out our dresses. A welcome sight was Sheila who brought a box of 21 kits she made up to help keep all our sewers busy, all fabric donated by Julie J. Thanks to our many volunteers who set up, break down, roll dresses, and generally just keep everything running smoothly and support the efforts of leadership and members of this chapter of DAG!
