Today, I'm taking a moment to celebrate me.
Those who know me know that I am always doing things for others every day and celebrating BOATT’s anniversary by giving back. I celebrated by being alone and doing what I wanted to do, then taking myself to dinner. I guess I did something that surprised the waiter by leaving a tip that wasn’t expected so I guess I did bless someone else today; that’s just what I love to do.
Today, June 6, 2026, (6.6.2026) I celebrate 14 amazing years as the Founder and Executive Director of Blessing Others All The Time, Inc. (BOATT). What started as a vision placed in my heart by God has grown into a ministry of love, compassion, and service to our community.
I am truly humbled and grateful that God chose me to lead this all volunteer organization. Through His grace, BOATT has been able to bless thousands of individuals and families, veterans, seniors, students, and those experiencing homelessness and difficult times. Every outreach, every backpack, every meal, every act of kindness has been possible because of Him and because of each of You.
There have been challenges, setbacks, tears, prayers, and victories. Through it all, God has remained faithful. Today, I celebrate not because of what I've accomplished, but because of what God has accomplished through me. I am thankful for every volunteer, donor, supporter, partner, family member, and friend who has walked alongside me. I don't know what the next chapter holds, but I know Who holds the future.
Along the way, I've faced funding challenges, volunteer shortages, and the day-to-day realities of running a small nonprofit, yet I kept showing up. Because of that commitment, veterans have been recognized, children have received school supplies, families have had food on their tables, individuals experiencing homelessness have been treated with dignity, and countless people have known that someone cared.
Many people dream about making a difference, but I have built an organization that has stayed active for 14 years, entirely through volunteer service, adapting to community needs while never losing sight of the mission which I am proud of.
To everyone who has supported BOATT over the past 14 years—THANK YOU! Whether you donated, volunteered, sponsored an event, shared our posts, liked a social media post, prayed for us, encouraged us, partnered with us, or simply believed in our mission, you have made a difference. No act of kindness has gone unnoticed.
As I celebrate this milestone, I don't celebrate alone. I celebrate every person who has helped make BOATT what it is today. Together, we have proven that a small organization with a big heart and faithful supporters can make a lasting impact.
I give God all the glory and praise for the journey and look forward to what He has in store for BOATT in the years to come. Our work is not finished, and with your continued love and support, we will continue Blessing Others All The Time.
Happy 14th Anniversary to BOATT, and happy anniversary to me, Sheila Denise Brown-Jefferson who dared to believe that serving others could change lives.
Thank you for "Getting on the BOATT" and sailing this journey with me. Here's to 14 years of service and many more to come!
