25 YEARS AGO: In addition to extreme drought, Applegate Christian Fellowship was front-page news. Medford Mail Tribune, July 15, 2001. Jon Courson came from San Jose in 1976 and started a small congregation in his home. As the flock grew, they met at Upper Applegate Grange #839 until 1980. The church also used Cantrall-Buckley Park, the gym at Ruch School, and rental space at Sunshine Plaza. The fellowship complex, on land originally homesteaded by Irishman James McDonough, was built to accommodate over 2,000 members drawn from as far away as Ashland.
