Coffee Shop Review #26: The Flamingo in Saint Augustine

Parking: Fair amount of Parking

Outdoor Seating: Yes. There is a decently sized covered outdoor seating area.

Indoor Atmosphere: PINK, PINK, and more PINK. No pink was spared. You can’t help but be in a good mood when everything is pink; even the pool table felt was pink. The building looks like it was an old gas station with a mechanic’s bay that was turned into a coffee shop. The juxtaposition between the building character and the pink just works. Drinks were served in both real cups and to-go cups depending on what you ordered and the food was served in baskets. The staff were friendly. All guests had a happy vibe that is not seen at all shops and I cant help but think it was due to all the pink

Food: They have a small selection of baked goods. The chocolate chip banana bread was spot on.

Coffee: The coffee was good. The double shot espresso was strong with a hint of citrus. Everyone seemed to enjoy their coffee.

Overview. This was a great find. We’ll definitely visit again.

Coffee Shop Review #25: The Urban Bean CoffeeHouse and Cafe in Orange Park

Parking: Plenty of Parking

Outdoor Seating: Yes. There is great covered outdoor seating.

Indoor Atmosphere: I don’t know what the place was before but you get the feeling it was a BBQ joint converted into a coffee shop, and it totally works. There are plenty of seating options to allow an individual, up to a large group, and still have plenty of comfortable seating. The lounge chair area feels a little forced but not awkwardly, so no big deal. The drinks were served in to go cups so there is room for improvement there, and the food was served on trays, like the trend at BBQ restaurants. The staff was friendly and inviting.

Food: They have a decently large breakfast menu and the food was cooked to order. The egg and cheese breakfast sandwich did not disappoint. They had a good selection of pastries. They also had GF options.

Coffee: The coffee was good. The double shot espresso was strong but not overbearing. Everyone seemed to enjoy their coffee.

Overview. This was a great find. There is no reason to think about going to S@ #^%%$%^ks with Urban Bean a block away. We’ll definitely visit again.

Coffee Shop Review #24: Gregorys Coffee at St John’s Town Center

Parking: Plenty of Parking

Outdoor Seating: Yes. There are several sidewalk tables but they’re not covered so at 9am there was direct sun and it was warm outside.

Indoor Atmosphere: Clean, Comfortable, Sterile. The inside is new and clean but doesnt have much character. There was nothing wrong but also nothing that gave it personality either. Starring out the glass facade to look at some sexy motorcycles was the best part of the interior. All drinks and food were served in to go cups and containers.

Food: The croissants appeared to be old. It was Sunday and someone said they were probably fresh on Thursday. I had the same feeling about mine.

Coffee: The coffee was good. The double shot espresso was bold but not overbearing. Everyone said they enjoyed their coffee.

Overview. If you’re just looking for a quick coffee to go this is a decent place. It has potential, but right now it’s not a place that I would specifically go to have the coffee shop experience.

Coffee Shop Review #23: Royal Moose Coffee Co in Middleburg

Parking: It is primarily a drive-thru facility but there was plenty of parking

Outdoor Seating: Yes. There is plenty of covered outdoor seating. This was a great feature.

Indoor Atmosphere: None. This is primarily a drive-thru establishment but they do have a good outside seating area. All drinks and food are served in take-out/to-go containers.

Food: Non fast food menu cooked in a fast food manner. Someone had an egg and cheese biscuit and commented it tasted microwaved. The egg and cheese croissant was marginally better but was obviously reheated. They also server ice cream and I suspect that would be the better option.

Coffee: The double shot espresso was average. No one raved about their coffee.

Overview. This might be a location where I’d take Starbucks over it. I think they have some great potential but have settled with ok.

Coffee Shop Review #22: Bitty & Beau’s in San Marco

Parking: Plenty of parking at 9:00am, but it is in San Marco so Parking mid day will be difficult.

Outdoor Seating: Yes. There are a few sidewalk tables and chairs.

Indoor Atmosphere: Inside was comfortable, casual, and super clean. They are a small franchise and that is evident from how well put together everything is as well as the larger selection of branded merchandise. Beyond that you wouldn’t think it is a franchise; it has a custom craft shop feel. The staff were super friendly and made everything pleasurable. There is ample seating in there but not configurable for a larger group to sit together. The only complaint is that the drinks were served in paper cups and the food in paper bags.

Food: They had a decent selection of muffins and bagels and a couple other selections; your typical quick service items

Coffee: The double shot espresso was good. It was strong just how I like it. It sounded like everyone enjoyed their drinks

Overview. Everyone seemed to like this location in San Marco. It’s worth going a little out of your way if you had to. We’ll definitely visit again.
