Seeing our alumni succeed after service is one of the most rewarding parts of our work. Today, we’re throwing it back to 2024 when we visited Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School with Lisa Owusu, who served with City Year Jax over ten years ago. Now she is a successful Risk Management professional, and credits many of her leadership skills to her time with City Year.

Watch the video in our bio to hear more about her story and how City Year helps develop the next generation of successful professionals!

Today we are highlighting William, who will be working as a paraprofessional at Jacksonville Heights Elementary, the very school he served at last year, while seeking a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. He shared that City Year helped him with hands-on experience in the classroom along with career readiness.

We are grateful for William’s service this past year and look forward to watching him grow in the education field!

Here’s to continued excellence and the bright future ahead for all our students and educators!
