It is with the heaviest of hearts I share the passing of R. Hugh Patterson from COVID. Hugh was a huge part of Opera Jacksonville and of all our lives associated with it. Personally he was my dearest friend. Please pray for his wife Tammy and his boys, Bradley and Bobby. Hugh's faith was an abiding part of his presence. I know Jesus has embraced him. But for all us left behind, I will miss you more than I can say, my dear dear friend, confidant and pastor.

As many of you have read, Sonia Lewis, recently passed away. Her daughters, Jillian Leigh and Audrey Lewis, along with Opera Jacksonville, are sharing a Celebration of Life for Sonia on a date yet to be determined. We invite all who would like to come and participate in remembering Sonia and her love of gifting music and joy of life to others. It is with a heavy heart that Opera Jacksonville shares the passing of Sonia Lewis, our General and Artistic Director. Sonia battled cancer gracefully and was at the Community Hospice O’Neal Center for Caring at her passing, surrounded by her loving daughters Jillian Leigh (Executive Director of OpJax) and Audrey Lewis.

A memorial service celebrating her life and music is being planned. Details will be released at a later date. Please keep the family and the host of friends and musicians she touched in your thoughts and prayers.
