Good evening Onslow County families! Please see the below message (apologies it's a bit lengthy) and if you are interested please complete the attached Google form as we gather initial interest to be able to properly move forward. Thank you for your time to complete the survey and support!

Sneads Ferry, Holly Ridge, Richlands, Southwest, White Oak community and families,

There is the possibility of creating a Youth Baseball, Softball and TBall Recreation League within our communities that will be separate from Onslow County Parks and Recreation to kick off for the Spring 2025 season. Each organization would be operated as and ran by its own nonprofit LLC, led by a board of directors who are all local residents to the respective area within the county, and involve community members as much as possible for various volunteer roles (liaisons, fundraising coordinators, communication coordinators, etc). There are several successful, youth recreation sports programs within our greater area that already operate as private programs, to include Topsail Softball and Baseball, Swansboro Softball and Baseball, as well as Burgaw Softball and Baseball. Please take a moment to complete the attached form if you have interest in signing up your child/children for this type of recreation program or have interest in helping organize it should you not have your own recreational aged child(ren). Should there be enough interest, each district will begin moving forward and hold community Q&A/forums in September. Thank you!

Good Afternoon White Oak Family!!

I know things have been pretty quiet over here so I wanted to take a moment to catch everyone up!

First off I wanted to make sure you all are aware of our new page! If you haven't already done so please make sure you go and like/follow it! Beginning very soon that is where all information regarding the leagues will be shared! Below you will find more information on why this change is happening as well as information on future changes! Please share this page with your friends- especially those who have kids in the basketball or cheer programs and arent here to see this!

As I am sure you all know the County has restructured how the youth leagues are being run throughout Onslow County Parks and Rec. With this restructuring, one of the biggest changes was the boards attached to each league.

As opposed to having 3 separate boards for the sports (Baseball/Softball/Tball, Basketball, and Cheer) we will now operate as one board composed of members of each sport. While I know that doing this comes with great challenges, it also comes with great rewards. Merging our sport boards also allows us to merge our community. While not all of us have kids who play multiple sports within the county, a lot of you do! By operating under one Booster Club it will be much more efficient to raise funds, get information and many other things.

In the next few days we will be sending out emails with information regarding the elections for the new board members. I encourage each of you to consider getting involved. There are 9 board positions within this Booster Club: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secritary, Baseball Liason, Basketball Liason, Cheer Liason, Softball Liason, and Tball Liason. These positions are extremely important and are crucial in making sure that all the sports within this Booster Club have fair and appropriate representation! Once the nomination and voting guidelines have been finalized I will also share the information on the new page!

Goood Evening White Oak!

As I’m sure you have all seen there will be an informational public meeting on August 1st at 6pm for the county to go over all the upcoming changes to the sports leagues in Onslow County. Information that the county will be reviewing was sent in an email to all previous league participants yesterday. Please understand this will not be a Q&A type meeting. The county representatives have asked that all questions be sent to them via email or call the office to make an appointment. If you have not received the email with the information or have any questions you can also reach out to me and I will do my best to explain! Please consider attending this meeting with an open and receptive mind!

The new structure will be creating 1 booster (board) for all sports within a district (baseball, softball, Tball, basketball and cheer) and there is most definitely still a need for volunteers and committed members of our community. Nominations and voting for that election will take place after a non profit 501(c)3 is obtained. As soon as that is finalized information will be sent out.

The upcoming transitions have begun and will continue through the fall season. With that said I will be here through this process and will help in any way I can! I will also attach to this post the information that I currently have for the fall season!

I am aware that change can be overwhelming but I am very hopeful for the changes that are coming! These changes are being made to create consistency with the sports in our district and can definitely be good for our community as a whole!

If you have some free time Dixon Youth League would really appreciate your help! Hosting these district tournaments are no easy task and just like regular season, we can’t do it without volunteers! They need help in all areas from concessions to parking assistance and even announcers!! Please sign up through the attacked link and help make this a great tournament for all the Onslow County teams (including our White Oak teams who will be there!)
