As we go through a full breathing exercise, chins tucked towards their chest, feet flat against the floor, and each coming more comfortable with their exhalations 🌬️🌬️🌬️



Their responses, "I feel the release through my chest (doing a hand motion from his throat to his stomach)," another, "I'm relaxed," next, "I feel weighted, but lite," and lastly, "I'm a lil sleepy, but good..."

If you aren't caring for yourself, how do you expect to care for anyone else?

We started in a chair with a few slow breaths and stood to add movement with each breath; yoga baby (Usher Voice)!!!

A few laughs, a few yawns, and a lot of "I can do this."

What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?



One of the boys came in upset, his attitude was completely off (you could feel his energy). As we breathed and bent with the breaths, he released the anger and opened up verbally and physically as he breathed deeper, identifying several things about himself.

We're reading a book as a group...
it's a heavy book, very relatable, thought provoking, and breath taking at moments.

One of the 6 boys shared, "it's interesting, overwhelming, and relatable, it's like here, I think I know why you chose it."

Tonight, I walked out of DDC with tears and a lump in my chest...

Pray for our boys, pray for boys all around the world, pray for parents with children, and any other children you may cross.

What is that you fear?

Will you say? Is it easier for females or males to express their fears? Is it difficult for black females to share their fears versus others? What motivates your fear?

"Inhale hope,
Exhale fear!
Inhale confidence,
Exhale fear!"



I have full index cards of teens sharing their fears. I have full ears of teens expressing their fears. I have a heavy heart on what motivates their fears. I have a full spirit of those teens reading and reciting scripture on God telling us to FEAR NOT! I have tear ducts overflowing with teens bending and breathing through breaths to create a space where they are cared for and loved. Regardless of the situation or circumstance you are NOT FORGOTTEN!!

They THANKED ME, but tonight I needed more than they'll ever know.

We finished a book in one session, they wouldn't let me put it down...

A room of boys, quiet, tuned in, and responsive immediately in the breath moments. They were able to break each piece in the theatrics of the read.

How many times did someone redirect you in the mist of your choices? In circumstances that didn't serve your purpose? How valuable are you? Does life stop in here or is God preserving you in your greatest purpose?

One boy M, "I need another book Ms. Yolanda..." Another, "let me see the other book and I'll only share with him (pointing to the young man next to him)." The others share, "I have... in my area, I'm reading."
