Riverside Avondale Preservation

Riverside Avondale Preservation RAP's mission is to preserve, enhance, and celebrate Riverside Avondale's historic fabric, arts & culture, local businesses, and public spaces.

Our mission is simple: Preserve this community. Not just the old homes and buildings, but also the beautiful parks and tree-lined streets, historic commercial corridors and vibrant cultural and business institutions. We are also proud to serve as the presenting organization for Riverside Arts Market! We are committed to protecting the sense of place and human scale that define the Riverside Avondale Historic District. If that’s your vision too, join us!

As our community gathers with family, friends, and neighbors this Memorial Day weekend, may we never lose sight of the sacrifice behind the freedoms we enjoy each day. Let us always appreciate those freedoms while honoring the people who made them possible.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend!

Now entering the Little Local Box is Jacksonville photographer Beth Leitzke of Elizabeth Anne Photography!

Beth specializes in photography for creatives, makers, chefs, designers, and product-based businesses, with a focus on the process behind the work — not just the finished product. Her photographs feel thoughtful and deeply observant, capturing small details and moments that tell a story. As Beth puts it, she wants people to not just see what someone makes, but understand why what they make matters.

A small, hand-selected collection of Beth’s work - postcards, keychains and magnets - is now available in the Little Local Box at the Buckland House!

As IRONMAN debuts its Jacksonville competition on Saturday, we want to wish ardent RAP supporter and Riverside Avondale advocate, Kip Strasma, the best of luck as he enters his 13th IRONMAN competition! Kip’s wife, Ann, our Parks Committee co-chair, has completed six IRONMAN competitions herself! These two are truly inspirational!

As Saturday approaches, remember that with such a big event and boon for our city, traffic and crowds will be heavier than normal. Plan accordingly and refer to the schedule of events and traffic impact report at the links below for help when making a plan.

Best of luck to the more than 1,900 athletes from 31 countries who will compete on Saturday!
