This weekend was filled with all the things that make a Street Friend ministry founder’s heart full.

Time with a special friend sorting hygiene items for our upcoming July events.

A visit from a faithful donor blessing the ministry with snacks, hygiene items, and big smiles.

An Amazon delivery of reusable bags from volunteers who saw a need and helped fill it.

Two neighbors dropped off suitcases and bags to help bless our Street Friends. I am so thankful for neighbors who keep their eyes open for things that are useful for the ministry.

Some time with Jessie and some time on the street made the weekend complete.

Thank you to the people who support Vessel ot Light in so many different ways. Every hand, every heart, and every donation helps this ministry continue doing what the Lord calls it to do.

SERVE OPPORTUNITIES ⭐️⭐️⭐️We have two serve opportunities coming up in July — July 10 (beach) and July 11(downtown)— and details will follow soon. If you are interested in serving with Vessel of Light in July, please send me a message. We would love to have you join us. 🤍

This weekend, the Lord gave me a really special gift — 12 hours with Jessie.

We talked about trauma and addiction, listening to the Lord, and the ministry. Jessie asked me why he matters so much to me. That opened the door for me to share the Vessel of Light story with him — how God has used and continues to use our friendship and his life to help shape the heart of this ministry.

The Vessel of Light story is included in the photos below.

Jessie and I began to understand each other on a much deeper level over these 12 hours.

In ministry, we talk a lot about loving people where they are. On this day, that became real for me.

I fully accepted Jessie exactly where he is.

Not where I hope he will be one day.

Not where the world thinks he should be.

But right where he is, in the life he knows.

And I love him for who he is, exactly where he is. I always will.

I am thankful for the time God gave me with my closest Street Friend this weekend. It was truly a blessing, and I pray the Lord blesses us with many more visits.

I had a special guest join me this past Sunday for church and street service.

Caroline is a friend who works diligently behind the scenes to help provide items for the ministry, and this was her first day out in the streets with me. It was such a blessing to have her there.

We traveled here and there, doubled back, circled around, and let the day unfold. We connected with people I wasn’t expecting to see, missed a few I had hoped to find, and even met a new friend along the way.

One sweet moment of the day was that the first friend Caroline served was also named Caroline. To me, that was such a sweet reminder that God is in the details. ♥️

Several of our Street Friends were blessed that day because of the kindness and generosity of those who donate. It was a wet day, and it had been wet for many days, so dry clothes, blankets, towels, socks, hygiene products, and tarps meant a whole lot. Snacks, drinks, and drink mixers were also shared — offering sustenance and comfort for the week ahead.

I appreciate and love Caroline’s heart. She works faithfully behind the scenes, and it was beautiful to see her step into the streets and serve face-to-face. I believe the Lord will use her own journey to help others as she continues to make herself available to glorify Him by serving those in need.

Caroline received our very first copy of The Word on the Street, our Street Friend devotional, when she dropped off donations on Saturday. Then on Sunday, during street service, we gave out the second copy to Randy.

The devotional is full of hope-filled passages — because hope is what we are here to sow.

Seeds of hope.

Thank you to everyone who donates, prays, and encourages us. You are helping keep Vessel of Light in the streets — from downtown to the beaches — distributing donated blessings, loving people where they are, and sowing seeds of hope.

We love you! Thank you!

Hot off the press! 📖Literally! 🙏♥️

At our first event as a cohost with Saved 2 Serve: North Florida's Street Friends atJames Weldon Johnson Park, a dear friend asked if we had a devotional for our Street Friends. That simple request sparked what you see here today. ♥️

Some wonderfully talented people came together and helped bring this devotional to life!

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, gifts, talents, and love of the Lord to help make this possible!

Vessel of Light is so excited to introduce The Word on the Street: A Street Friend Devotional.

May the Lord use these pages to bring encouragement, hope, and light to those who receive them — pointing every heart toward the One who sees them, loves them, and can make all things new.

Lord, lead the way.

In my life. On the road. In every place You want me to go.

This morning, a stop for gas took me off my regular route and placed me in front of a new friend.

A shared smile. A few things to make the streets a little more comfortable for the day. A connection to avenues of change. And most of all, a reminder that there is hope.

We are grateful for mornings that feel a little different.

New friends. New hope. New beginnings.

Thank you for your donations that open the doors for these moments. ♥️

On Saturday, May 9, Vessel of Light spent the morning downtown at James Weldon Johnson Park with Saved 2 Serve: North Florida's Street Friends — serving, loving, and thanking the Lord for it all. ❤️

It was a beautiful morning to spend time with our Street Friends, sharing food, clothing, hygiene items, encouragement, special deliveries for a few special friends, and prayers of protection until we meet again.

It is always a joy to spend time with people who love God and love loving on people. We were blessed to see Pastor Tone Benedict with Love Cleans, along with so many others, pouring love into the community.

Thank you to every person who came out to serve, and thank you to every person who donated and helped make the morning possible. Every item, every prayer, every act of love matters.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to love our neighbors and sow seeds of hope wherever God leads us.

Sometimes ministry is simply following where the Lord leads. Just listening to where He wants us to position ourselves, being available and moving through what He has instructed us to do.

Recently, I felt led to stop and pray with someone I have often seen in passing. As we talked, it became clear that he was in need of a bit of encouragement and a little food to be comfortable for the next several days. He was not someone who necessarily fit into a “homeless” or “recovery” category — he was simply someone in the community with a real need in that moment.

And that is part of ministry too.

Sometimes God leads us to our Street Friends. And sometimes He leads us to everyday people who are simply carrying something heavy and need prayer, encouragement, food, or a reminder that they are seen and loved.

Thank you to everyone who gave so generously this week. From a donation bench FULL of food, to LARGE amounts of towels, hygiene items, and other needed supplies. We are so grateful for every donation and every bit of support. These gifts help Vessel of Light continue showing up for the people God places in our path.

A reminder for tomorrow's serve opportunity: Saturday, May 9th, 2026 in downtown Jacksonville. ❤️

Vessel of Light will be serving alongside Saved 2 Serve: North Florida's Street Friends at James Weldon Johnson Park, located at 135 W. Monroe Street. Jacksonville, FL.

One person at a time. One need at a time. Sowing seeds of hope. ❤️

On Friday, April 24th, Community Presbyterian Church hosted a beautiful Compassion Night, serving 94 of our beaches area Street Friends.

Thank you to the Beaches Homeless Coalition for doing such wonderful things for our Street Friends.

Love Cleans provided 58 showers, and 22 guests received hair cuts.

Our guests were also invited to spend the night in a safe space and enjoy a warm meal.

Vessel of Light was present with clothing, hygiene products, and love.

We had some amazing volunteers serving on our serve team, and for this, we are so grateful!

Thank you to everyone who gathered and donated clothing, hygiene items, bags, suitcases, backpacks, blankets, towels, sleeping bags, and camping items.

The evening was filled with laughter, love, and prayers lifted to the sovereign Creator of the universe.

Please enjoy photos from the evening, which include many of my favorite people….our guests!

Our next serving event will be downtown on May 9! We will be joining Saved 2 Serve: North Florida's Street Friends to love on our downtown Street Friends, and we would love to see you there.

And to our Street Friends — please come see me! I would be honored to wrap you in a hug, pray with you, and remind you face-to-face that you are seen, cherished, and deeply loved!
