Take Back The Westside.

Take Back The Westside. This purpose of this page is to create a "Westside Watch" to make our communities a safe place to li For many of us, the Westside has always been our home. Asst.

Our "Way of Life". Those of us who truely call ourselves "Westsiders" imbrace this lifestyle. We are a diverse, melting pot of fascinating characters. Whether you grew up or live in Murray Hill, Whitehouse, Ortega, Lake Shore, Riverside/Avondale, Merrietta, Cedar Hills, Argyle, Sweetwater, Londontown, Hyde Grove or anywhere else, you know what it means to be a Westsider. Many of us have grown up g

oing to school together, playing ball or working together, living and playing in the same neighborhoods or maybe we just recognize eachother in the grocery store. Over the years, the Westside of Jacksonville has slowly and steadily become one of the less desirable areas of town. A crime infested, run down shell of a once proud and prosporous part of Jacksonville. The area, our home, has been infested with Low-Income and Govt. Housing (Eureka Gardens, Lenox Court Apts, Londontown just to name a few) which seem to breed crime. 103rd street is now a Gangland and run-down streets and neighborhoods are everywhere. Just drive down Normandy Blvd. and Blanding Blvd. and it is starting to look like a forgotten wasteland. This page is for anybody and everybody with ties to the Westside who is ready to take it back for our own. This is NOT a Hate Group or a Vigilante Group and anyone trying to use it as such, or hide behind our name, will be removed from this page. We need strong voices from our District City Council Reps and we need to hold them accountable to do their part. We need to form an alliance with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and also form partnerships with our local businesses. We also should take an active involvement ourselves, to come up with ideas and plans to help. Please use this group page to make suggestions and bounce ideas off of one another. Let's "Take Back The Westside".

Community Focused...

On Wednesday July 8, 2015, Officer Joseph Farhat responded to a report of a dog that was locked inside of a vehicle. By the time the owner called police for assistance and Ofc. Farhat arrived, the dog had been inside of a parked vehicle for over an hour while the outside temperature soared to above 90 degrees. Ofc. Farhat quickly realized that the dog was in acute distress. In an effort to save the life of the animal,Ofc. Farhat broke out one of the windows and extracted the dog from the sweltering vehicle. Ofc. Farhat immediately placed the animal down in a shady area and began administering water over it's body as well as in it's mouth. Ofc. Farhat continued this for several minutes until the animal started showing signs of improvement. The animal was transported to a local vet for follow-up treatment.

Ofc. Farhat went to the vet's office earlier today to check on the well-being of "Lance" and was advised that he was doing well.

Thanks goes out to Joe Farhat for his quick action and assisting in saving Lance's life.
