Congratulations to our Jacksonville Woman of the Year Judy Covington Poole!

Judy exemplifies leadership through vision, service, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others. A role model for employees, students, peers, members, friends, and family, Judy leads to create meaningful, lasting impact. She has a distinguished record of professional excellence, community leadership, and selfless service.

From 2023 to 2025, Judy served as President of NARBW Jacksonville, where her intentional, people-centered leadership delivered historic results. Membership grew from 45 to 73 members - the largest increase in recent chapter history. She revitalized programming to make meetings dynamic, inclusive, and strategically relevant, creating an environment where professionals could learn, connect, and thrive. Judy mentored the incoming president and became Chapter Secretary (2025–2027), demonstrating her belief that leadership is defined by service, not title.

A respected leader at CSX, Judy has built a 15-year career marked by growth and impact. Joining in 2011 as a Business Consultant supporting the Mechanical division, she has advanced through consulting and senior management roles to her current role as Technical Director in the Service Operations/Reliability team. She is known for strategic insight, operational excellence, and leading complex initiatives with clarity and collaboration. In 2024, she completed the Information Technology Senior Management Forum Executive Training Program, strengthening her executive leadership capabilities. Judy actively champions inclusion and development through CSX’s Women’s Business Resource Group, African American Inclusion Group, Health & Wellness initiatives, and Toastmasters. Judy also contributes to the rail industry through her involvement with AREMA.

Her leadership extends deeply into the Jacksonville community. She is a graduate of the National African American Women’s Leadership Institute (2021) and completed Blueprint for Leadership Jacksonville (2016). She is currently part of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2026 and serves on the board of Hope at Hand, providing governance and strategic guidance to advance its mission.

Service is central to Judy’s life. She volunteers with Microsoft TEALS, William Raines High School, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Susan G. Komen, the Heart Walk, and the Hubbard House Walk. She supports the Cu**er Museum of Art & Gardens, Guardian Catholic School, and the Wounded Warrior Project. In recognition of her spirit of service, she was selected to participate in the 2025 CSX Santa Train.
At the heart of Judy’s leadership is family. She and her husband, Merle Poole, recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. They are proud parents of three adult children Cortney, Ceryle, and Chandler and grandparents to JaChelle and John Jr. Judy’s compassion, balance, and authenticity are grounded in the values she lives daily.

Judy Covington Poole embodies the spirit of Woman of the Year. She leads with purpose, serves with heart, and lifts others as she rises—creating opportunity, impact, and lasting change wherever she goes.

Happy Monday!! National Association of Railway Business Women (NARBW) wants to hear from all of our members that are Mom's out there!

- If you could have one superpower for Mother's Day, what would it be?
-What's a piece of 'mom wisdom' you swore you'd never repeat, but now find yourself saying all the time?
-If your life with kids were a sitcom, what would the title be?
-What's the one technology your kids use that you still pretend to understand?
-If you could trade places with any fictional mother for a day, who would it be and why?
-What's one chore you'd happily outsource to a trained squirrel if that were an option?
-If you had a theme song as a mom, what would it be?
-What's the most elaborate lie you've ever told your kids to get five minutes of peace?
-What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten off your kid's plate?
