To our followers:

By know we know about the horrific and devastating fires on Maui. Our fellow Chief Warrant Officer Association and Coast Guard Enlisted Association members and officers are pooling resources with the CPOA to raise funds for Coast Guard members and their families affected by this awful event. Please see the message below from the CWOA Executive Director, Michael Little:

From The Desk Of The Executive Director

Dear Members of the Chief Warrant Officers Association,

I hope this message finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to our esteemed community today. As some of you may already be aware, devastating wildfires have been ravaging Maui, HI, causing significant harm and displacing many from their homes. Tragically, among those affected are members of our Coast Guard family and the auxiliary.

In response to this crisis, a joint initiative has been established by the Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA), our Chief Warrant Officers Association (CWOA), and the Coast Guard Enlisted Association (CGEA). We have set up a GoFundMe campaign to provide much-needed aid and support to our fellow servicemen and servicewomen and their families during these trying times.

Donation Link: https://bit.ly/45vJaht

Every donation, regardless of the amount, will make a significant difference. The funds collected will be used to provide immediate relief and support to those affected, from helping with temporary housing to essential supplies and rebuilding efforts.

Our community has always shown resilience, strength, and unity in the face of adversity. I am confident that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are enduring immense challenges right now.

I urge you to consider making a donation and to share the link with friends, family, and colleagues who may be willing to contribute.

On behalf of the entire Coast Guard family, thank you for your unwavering support, kindness, and generosity. Our thoughts remain with the families affected, and we will continue to stand by them during these challenging times.

Very Respectfully,

CWO4 (Hon) Michael Joseph Little, USCG
Executive Director

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Cathey, wife of our chapter namesake, the late MCPO John Cathey (USCG Ret). Mrs. Cathey passed on June 7th, in Jacksonville FL, after complications from a stroke.

Mary and John were married for over 61 years. MCPO Cathey was our chapter president for many years as well, and very instrumental in helping our chapter remain viable, visible, and active in the North Florida community. When John was not able to attend our meetings, we would bring the meetings to him, getting to know his family very well. Over the years his family would often attend our annual golf fund raisers, named in MCPO Cathey's honor, and share wonderful achievements of his grandchildren and great grand children. A few years back MCPO Cathey's great grandson, Jacob Reiney, graduated from Army boot camp and pursued training as an Army Blackhawk helicopter mechanic.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Rd, Jacksonville, on Monday evening, June from 6-8 PM (1800-2000). Burial will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 13, at 1430 (2:30 PM EST).

Last month our chapter held our second NEFL CPOA fishing tournament in the St. John's River. Many tried their angling and fishing skills, and I'm sure there were a few "fish tales" swapped! In the end, we raised money to help support our families and Coast Guard members, and couldn't do it without the gracious support of our own members, sponsors, and the public. Thank you to all who participated!

One of our deep rooted mottos has always been taking care of our people. Today we partnered with the Coast Guard Enlisted Association's River City branch to host the Northeast Florida CPOA softball tournament at Naval Station Mayport. Four teams Participated in an abbreviated tournament format due to potential inclement weather. Station Mayport came out on top as the Tournament champions, providing a clinic on precision hitting and good defense. Congrats to the station, and thanks to MFPU Kings Bay, Sector Prevention/Logs, And sector Jacksonville teams for Participating. We hope to make this an annual event anew event and engage more teams in the future. And thanks to the members of the River City branch and North East Florida CPOA chapter members who helped organize, coordinate, and participate in today's event!
