⚠️ Voluntary Recall Notice: Kitten Milk Replacer Formulas
We want to make sure our community has accurate, up-to-date information — so here's what we currently know, and what we're still confirming.

This morning we spoke directly with Revival Animal Health and confirmed there is a voluntary recall affecting:
Breeder's Edge Foster Care Feline Milk Replacer
Shelter's Choice Feline Milk Replacer

This is an extension of Revival's earlier canine milk replacer recall, and involves potential nutrient imbalances from a manufacturing issue at a third-party supplier. No formal recall has been filed with the FDA for the kitten milk replacer at this time, this is a voluntary action initiated by Revival.

What we're doing: We've requested official documentation from Revival's recall team directly, which we expect early next week. As soon as we have that in hand, we'll share exact product sizes, lot numbers, and best-by dates so you can check your own supply with confidence.

What you can do now:
-If you have Breeder's Edge Foster Care or Shelter's Choice feline/kitten milk replacer on hand, please consider pausing use until we confirm specific affected lots
-Watch for symptoms in kittens who've been fed these formulas: poor growth, weakness, or other signs of nutritional deficiency and contact your vet if you're concerned

We'll post the confirmed details as soon as we have them from Revival directly. Thank you for your patience, we'd rather get this right than get it out fast.

GS-441524 has transformed the prognosis of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), but we still have relatively limited information about how much drug actually reaches the circulation of individual cats.

A new 2026 study developed and validated an LC-MS/MS method for measuring GS-441524 concentrations in feline serum, then applied it to 17 cats undergoing treatment for confirmed FIP.

The results were striking.

Serum GS-441524 concentrations ranged from 0.34 to 21.80 µM, with a median of 5.0 µM.

Using previously proposed therapeutic targets of >3.0 µM as a minimum target and >10.0 µM as an optimal target:

• 35.3% of cats were below the minimum target
• 29.4% were above the minimum but below the optimal target
• 35.3% reached the proposed optimal target

The study also found that serum concentrations were positively associated with both the administered dose and duration of treatment.

Interestingly, cats receiving injectable GS-441524 had significantly higher serum concentrations than cats receiving oral formulations.

But there was an important caveat: serum drug concentration did not neatly predict inflammatory status. Three cats had GS-441524 concentrations below the proposed minimum target while their serum amyloid A (SAA) was within the reference interval.

The researchers also independently tested the five compounded GS-441524 formulations used in the study. All contained drug concentrations within ±15% of their labelled claims, suggesting that the variation in serum concentrations was unlikely to be explained solely by inadequate drug content.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?

The findings highlight how much individual pharmacokinetic variability may influence GS-441524 exposure. Dose alone may not tell us exactly how much drug a particular cat is actually exposed to.

The authors propose that validated therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) could eventually help move FIP treatment toward a more individualized approach.

However, this was a small preliminary study involving only 17 cats, with samples collected at varying stages of treatment and 2–3 hours after dosing. The authors specifically caution that the proposed therapeutic targets should not yet be considered definitive reference ranges.

Still, this is an important step toward understanding what happens to GS-441524 after we give it to the cat.
