Ten rural and volunteer fire departments across six Canadian provinces are better equipped for wildfire response thanks to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. Last year, our Foundation helped GlobalMedic provide portable fire skids to strengthen local emergency response. Thank you to the fire crews and organizations who work every day to keep Canadians safe.

It's National Dog Day! Whether they're arson, bomb, search & rescue or patrol dogs, k9s are invaluable to first responders in locating missing people and detecting dangers. Since many communities do not have the resources to support k9, we're proud to help equip fire and police agencies with these incredible partners and the tools they need.

Did you know a dog's nose contains up to 300 million scent receptors? πŸ‘ƒπŸΎ That incredible sense of smell helps K9s locate missing people, detect danger, and support first responders during critical emergencies. As National Dog Day approaches, we're celebrating these four-legged partners and the role they play in keeping communities safe.

German Shepherds can learn a new command in as few as five repetitions. Their intelligence and trainability make them one of the most trusted breeds for police, search-and-rescue, and detection work. What breed is your dog? Share a photo in the comments to celebrate National Dog Day!

Some firehouse dogs aren't there to detect danger, they're there to help crews recover from it. 🐾 Meet Russet, a certified therapy dog who works alongside the crew at Station 60 of Dunedin Fire Rescue. After tough calls, he gives firefighters a moment to decompress before they're back out the door. This National Dog Day, join us in celebrating the four-legged teammates supporting the mental health of the first responders who protect you and your loved ones.
