In 2024, ICARE partnered with Ascension St Vincent's to reduce violence in Jacksonville. We are glad to report the success of our partnership. ICARE pressed Sheriff Waters to revamp Jacksonville’s Group Violence Intervention program. As a result, JSO increased the agency’s resources to address the problem. In 2024, the number of murders dropped by 50%. This means 60 lives were saved. This has not happened in at least two decades in Jacksonville. This is an amazing achievement for our city. So far in 2025, the murder rate has consistently been down at least 30% from the average. We believe the numbers show that Jacksonville
has turned a corner. We are proud to recognize Ascension St Vincent's.

Today we remember John Havens, a dear member of our ICARE community. John was always willing to help and serve others. Our prayers are with his mother and father, Rev Dr Bruce and Tammy Havens, and siblings Caroline and Allen.
