Don't Miss A Beat, Inc. is an organization in Jacksonville, Fl. Don’t Miss A Beat was founded in 2008 by Ulysses Owens, Jr. and his family.

Their mission is to enlighten and activate kids through musical theater production and community engagement. The program began with the singular objective of helping suspended youths stay in school so they wouldn’t “miss a beat.” Since then, DMAB programming has evolved to include the performing arts, academic enrichment and civic engagement. MAB was selected by the City of Jacksonville and JaxParks to be “in residence” at the J.S. Johnson Community Center’s Youth Room in Jacksonville. This great honor allowed DMAB to provide programming for underserved youth all year long and enhanced the organization’s sustainability by providing it with a permanent home.

It’s been an incredible summer for us! We sincerely hope you’ll continue to support our youth and their excellence on stage at Don’t Miss A Beat.

“[The show] was a high-energy megawatt show with jaw-dropping sets and original and clever costumes - Lord Farquaad and Donkey were outrageously fun. The sets and costumes, though, were just accessories to showcase the phenomenal talent! Even the rooster was memorable! Shrek was appropriately droll! Donkey was dynamic! The dragon was flamboyant! Pinocchio had panache! Everyone exuded a confidence and showmanship that only comes with being loved and encouraged!
