Lexie A2547340 is a 2-year-old spayed pup weighing 37 lbs and has tested positive for heartworm. The shelter will treat.

She originally arrived at the PRC displaying fearful behaviors during intake and was placed on Evaluation Behavior.

Since then, Lexie has made progress with staff and has been cleared and no longer on eval.

Lexie can be vocal and cautious around unfamiliar people, sometimes barking or keeping her distance until she feels more comfortEvaluation.

However, she has shown that she can warm up with patience and positive interactions.

She has approached staff for affection, gently taken treats from their hands, and leaned into familiar handlers for pets.

During outings, she enjoys exploring the yard, chasing tennis balls, and tossing around stuffed toys.

She has even greeted some people at the fence with interest and licked their hands after initially barking.

With people she trusts, Lexie can be affectionate and playful, but she will need a home that respects her boundaries and allows her to approach new people at her own pace.

Lexie can react to other dogs, particularly when they are barking at her or passing nearby, and she has been described as selective with canine companions.

She will need thoughtful introductions and a home prepared to manage her reactivity while helping her feel secure.

A quieter environment, predictable routines, and positive reinforcement could help her continue building confidence.

Tasha A2544254 is a 3-year-old spayed girl weighing 62 lbs and is heartworm negative.

She arrived at PRC as part of a neglect owner surrender case in the field.

Tasha was extremely shut down and avoidant, fearful of handling, and unsure how to navigate her new environment.

The PRC behavior team has continued working with her to help her build confidence and learn to trust, but after over a month in the shelter, progress has been minimal.

Tasha remains nervous and flighty, often keeping her distance from people and staying on alert during interactions.

She can be tense and uncomfortable when approached in her kennel, and while she has shown glimpses of curiosity, occasionally approaching staff to sniff them, wagging her tail, and accepting pets, she quickly retreats back into her shell.

She is still learning how to feel safe in the world around her, and the constant stimulation of the shelter makes that an incredibly difficult task.

Tasha needs a quiet, patient environment where she can decompress, build confidence at her own pace, and begin learning that people can be trusted.

We are hoping to find someone experienced with fearful, undersocialized, or shut-down dogs who can give Tasha the time and understanding she needs.

She deserves the chance to discover what it feels like to be comfortable, confident, and simply enjoy being a dog.

Pickle Larry A2544030 is a 2-year-old neutered boy weighing 39 lbs and is heartworm negative.

He arrived at PRC over a month ago in heartbreaking condition, severely underweight, anemic, and suffering from a heavy hookworm infestation.

He required days of hospitalization, intensive treatment, and constant monitoring to get through his illness, but this resilient boy fought his way back!

He gradually gained weight, was cleared for surgery, and finally made it to the adoption floor.

Unfortunately, the stress of shelter life has taken a significant toll on him. Larry spends much of his time in his kennel jumping, spinning, barking, and drooling heavily when people or dogs pass, and he has even resorted to licking and chewing at his kennel walls.

Despite medication, he has shown minimal improvement, and it is becoming clear that the shelter environment is not where he can thrive.

Outside his kennel, he is sweet, gentle, and tolerant of handling.

During a recent Adventure Tail Larry was initially timid but quickly gained confidence, happily greeting people and accepting treats. Afterward, he settled into a cozy home, cuddled up on the couch, showered his temporary family with kisses, and even fell asleep beside their seven-year-old daughter.

Larry has already fought incredibly hard for his life; now he needs someone willing to give him the chance to decompress.

The shelter is seeking someone who can offer him a calmer environment where he can decompress, continue gaining weight, and show the world the sweet boy we know he is.

Honeycrisp A2543409 is a 2-year-old neutered Mixed Breed weighing 56 lbs. who arrived at the PRC in August. He is heartworm negative.

Since arriving, he has struggled with the stress of the shelter environment, frequently barking and whining at his kennel door regardless of activity around him.

He is currently being monitored for a possible upper respiratory infection after reports of hacking, though no nasal discharge has been noted.

Outside the kennel, Honeycrisp has shown that there is much more to him than his kennel behaviors. He was calmer when given time in an office, where he played with toys, bounced around, and became more comfortable approaching staff and seeking affection.

In the yard, he has also solicited pets, gently taken treats, wagged his tail, and even chased a staff member around for a few laps.

He can be nervous about people reaching over his head and may flinch when touched unexpectedly, so he benefits from patient, gentle interactions that allow him to approach at his own pace.

At times, he may pace, pull on leash, or avoid being leashed in the yard, but he has also had successful outings and returned to his kennel without issue.

Honeycrisp has a gentle, dainty play style with other dogs but is selective about his canine companions, so thoughtful dog introductions and appropriate placement will be important.
