Last week Bonnie (a.k.a Poptart) had surgery to remove her painful leg.

Today, she's already doing what Bonnie does best... smiling. ๐Ÿ’›

Her foster family tells us she's doing incredibly well. Every day she's learning to balance a little more, walking better and better, and proving just how resilient dogs can be. Through it all, she hasn't lost her sweet personality or her love for people.

Because of your kindness, Bonnie has the opportunity to live the pain-free life she deserves.

Bonnie still has some healing ahead of her, but once she's recovered, she'll be ready to begin her next adventure, finding the forever family she's always deserved.

If you've never considered adopting a tripod dog, you might be surprised to learn that they adjust incredibly well. Once healed, they enjoy walks, playtime, adventures, belly rubs, and snuggles just like any other dogโ€”they simply do it on three legs instead of four. โค๏ธ

If you'd like to help with Bonnie's ongoing medical expenses and recovery, donations are still greatly appreciated. https://greatrescue.org/donate/

And if you think Bonnie might be the perfect addition to your family, we'd love to hear from you! Please complete an adoption application on our website https://greatrescue.org/adoption_form/ or call ๐Ÿ—๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’-๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘-๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ–.

๐Ÿ’› VINNIE NEEDS A NEW BEGINNING โ€”
and we know his perfect family is out there. ๐Ÿ’›

This stunning 7-month-old English Cream boy is being lovingly rehomed through no fault of his own. Vinnieโ€™s family adores him, but his older furbrother is very sick and simply cannot handle Vinnieโ€™s joyful puppy energy and rough-and-tumble play.

Vinnie has been deeply loved and very well cared for. He is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative, neutered, house trained, and has had basic puppy training. At 60 pounds, he is a big, fluffy, beautiful boy who is still learning how to be the very best version of himself.

Like many young dogs, Vinnie still needs guidance, structure, and patience. He can be mouthy when he plays, but with continued positive training, maturity, and a family willing to invest in him, this sweet boy can truly blossom. GREAT can help provide some of that ongoing training support.

Vinnie gets along with other dogs and has been raised with cats. He would do best with a dog-savvy family, a fenced yard, and someone who is home much of the time. A work-from-home or retired home would be wonderful for him, and because Vinnie absolutely LOVES the water, a pool would make his heart very happy.

He could thrive as an only dog or with another playful dog who can match his puppy energy. Because he is still learning not to nip during play, a home WITHOUT young children is best.

Vinnie is not looking for perfection โ€” he is looking for someone who will believe in him, guide him, and give him the chance to grow into the amazing companion he is meant to be.
If you can foster or foster-to-adopt Vinnie, please contact

GREAT at 904-874-7689 or [email protected]. You may also visit greatrescue.org to submit a foster or adoption application. Letโ€™s help this beautiful boy start the next chapter of his life surrounded by patience, love, and the family he deserves. ๐Ÿพ

When Bonnie arrived at a Georgia shelter, no one knew her story.
She was found as a stray, running a fever and barely able to use her back leg. Despite the pain she was in, the shelter staff couldn't stop talking about how incredibly sweet she was. They even nicknamed her "Poptart."

Today, in her loving foster home, she's de-squeaking toys, asking for belly rubs, making friends, and winning over everyone she meets.

โค๏ธ Bonnie still greets each day with a heart full of love even though we know she's in significant pain. Last week, the orthopedic surgeon determined that amputating her painful leg offers the best opportunity to relieve that pain and allow her to enjoy the active, happy life she's already beginning to embrace.

Surgery is scheduled for July 28, and the tissue will be biopsied afterward to determine exactly what caused the damage.

Now we're asking for your help.
Bonnie's surgery will cost approximately $4,000, and every dollar brings her one step closer to a life without pain.

Whether you can give $10, $25, or any amount, your gift will make a difference. And if you're unable to donate, please share Bonnie's story. Your share may help us reach the person who changes her life.

Thank you for believing in second chances and for helping us give Bonnie hers. โค๏ธ

***IT'S FINALLY TIME: REMEMBER THEO AND TAYLOR??***

When Theo and Taylor were first found, their story was almost too heartbreaking to comprehend. These two Golden Retrievers became part of an animal cruelty case that drew both local and national attention because of the harrowing conditions in which they and another Golden Retriever had been left.

The rescue began because a concerned neighbor noticed something was wrong and alerted Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services. Inside the home, officers discovered three dogs who had reportedly been left unattended for three weeks without food, water, or electricity while the family was away on โ€œvacation.โ€

The house was described as filthy and severely hoarded, with an odor so overwhelming that responders could not remain inside for any extended period of time. Tragically, one of the dogs could not be saved due to the severity of neglect.
At the time of their rescue, Theo weighed only 12 pounds; Taylor weighed just 17. Both dogs were dangerously close to death, their bodies weakened by starvation, dehydration, and prolonged neglect.

Jacksonville ACPS contacted our Rescue and asked GREAT to take Theo and Taylor into our care, explaining that they knew the dogs would receive โ€œthe best possible care and support.โ€ From that moment, a network of rescuers, veterinarians, fosters and volunteers began fighting for the lives of two dogs who had already endured far too much abuse and neglect.

The brothers were rushed to one of our trusted veterinary partners, where they received around-the-clock intensive care. They were so filthy that it took multiple baths to wash away what rescuers described as the โ€œsmell of deathโ€ from their emaciated bodies. Their coats were in deplorable condition with bare skin covering much of their "skeletal" frames.
After several days of emergency veterinary care, Theo and Taylor were placed with a highly experienced foster family. There, surrounded by patience, compassion, and steady care, the two began the slow, (often difficult), and beautiful process of becoming whole again.

What happened next was nothing short of a miracle. The dogs who had once been frail, frightened and near death, began to gain weight, regain strength, and discover joy. Today, Theo and Taylor are happy, healthy, well-adjusted Golden Retrievers with the playful energy typical of young Goldens. They love to cuddle, romp, and play with their foster dog siblings- and they have COMPETELY stolen the hearts of the family who transformed them.

The time has come for them to take the next step in their journey to live the life they were denied for so longโ€ฆ a home with a family that will treasure them as they were meant to be.
We believe these boys are approximately a little over a year old, and are housetrained. They have been completely vetted with all shots, vaccines and are heartworm negative. They have already been neutered and have been given a perfect bill of health. Because they were so malnourished in their early developmental years, they are both on the โ€œsmall side;โ€ Theo weighs 44 pounds, and Taylor 40. They are energetic and LOVE to playโ€ฆโ€ running like lighteningโ€ is one of their favorite activities. Both boys get along with other dogs beautifully, but they havenโ€™t been exposed to cats.

We are seeking a VERY special family that will take BOTH boys into their hearts and home. These brothers are completely BONDED and WILL NOT be separated. They require a home with a large fenced in yard and an active family that can invest time supporting them with activity and exercise that will keep them happy and healthy. Older children (7-up) would be perfect โ€œbest friendsโ€ for these two who LOVE affection and playtime. A "doggy sibling" of "like energy" would be a plus.

Theo and Taylor hold a VERY special place in our hearts, and we want a home for them that will carry on the exceptional care and compassion they have experienced in their foster home for the past 5 months. It is a miracle that Theo and Taylor survived their ordeal. It is an even greater joy to see them become the amazing Golden boys they were always meant to be.

If you think you can provide such a family for these precious โ€œsurvivorsโ€ please contact us at 904-874-7689, or email us at [email protected]. You may also visit our website, greatrescue.org and submit an adoption application. Please consider giving these extrordinarily special boys an equally special home and family!

**** PUPDATE*** Abbie has found an amazing place to land and get some well deserved peace! Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes for this precious dog!

URGENT: ABBIE NEEDS A FOSTER HOME IMMEDIATELY!!!

Our Rescue URGENTLY needs an experienced foster for Abbie, a beautiful 6-year-old Golden/Lab mix who needs a quiet, safe place to land, immediately. Abbie recently came into our program after a life marked by uncertainty, instability, and suspected abuse, and she is struggling deeply in the veterinary setting where she is currently being housed.

While our vet partners are helping get Abbie caught up on her vaccines and spaying, the clinic environment is overwhelming for her. She is extremely anxious there and is having a very hard time relaxing. This sweet girl needs out of the vet and into a calm foster home within the next several days so she can finally begin to decompress and feel safe.

Abbie is looking for a foster who is calm, patient, dog-savvy, and willing to give her the grace and consistency she needs during this transition. The best home for her right now would be quiet, with no other dogs or possibly one respectful dog she can simply coexist with. She needs a fenced yard, someone home much of the time, and because she needs a peaceful environment, we are recommending children in the home be 12 or older.

Despite everything she has been through, Abbie has so many wonderful qualities. She is housebroken, crate trained, knows simple commands, and is good with cats. She loves playing fetch, adores squeaky toys, and has been described by her owners as โ€œenergetic, happy, playful, loves people, loving, great, amazing.โ€

Abbie does experience anxiety with loud noises such as fireworks and thunder, and she is currently being treated for a noncontagious skin condition. What she needs most right now is not perfectionโ€”she needs someone experienced, steady, and compassionate who can offer her a soft place to land, even short term.

This is a foster-only need at this time, and it is urgent. If you can help Abbie get out of the vet and into a calm home where she can begin to feel safe, please contact us right away.

***** EXCITING PUPDATE!!**** Miss Daisy has won the hearts of a wonderful family and is currently living the "princess" life she was meant for! Thanks for all your interest and support in finding this most excellent home!

***SOMEONE PLEASE PICK THIS BEAUTIFUL DAISY!!***

Meet Daisy, a bright, bouncy, belly-rub-loving sweetheart who is ready to bloom in a new forever home. At just 7 months old, this precious girl has all the joyful puppy sparkle you would expect, along with a heart full of love for her people.

Daisy is looking for a new family through no fault of her own. Her military family must relocate and, sadly, cannot take her along. She was purchased as a purebred Golden Retriever, though as she grows, she appears to have a little mystery mixed into her golden charm. Whatever her heritage may be, Daisy is 100% adorable.

This lovely girl currently weighs about 40 pounds. She is up to date on her shots and vaccines, has been on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, and is protected from those pesky โ€œnasties.โ€ When the appropriate time comes for her to be spayed, the Rescue will reimburse a portion of the spay cost.
Daisy has that classic young Golden-style energy: playful, happy, curious, and full of life. She is as sweet as they come and simply loves being near her humans. She enjoys tug of war, chasing playmates, chewing bones, going for walks, and soaking up every belly rub she can get.

She is housebroken and crate trained, knows simple commands, and has done well with children and other dogs. Because she is still an enthusiastic puppy, she may be a bit too energetic for kitties right now.

Daisyโ€™s dream home would be an active family in a single-family home with a fenced backyard where she can run, romp, and play to her heartโ€™s content. A playful doggy sibling who can match her puppy energy would make her tail wag with joy, and children in the home would be a wonderful bonus.

If you would like to pick this beautiful Daisy and help her blossom as a beloved member of your family, please visit greatrescue.org to submit an adoption application, email [email protected], or call 904-874-7689. This darling Daisy is ready to bring sunshine, laughter, and so much love to the lucky family who โ€œpicksโ€ her.
