BEWARE: Scammers will use a lot of different tactics to get your Medicare number! A few scams we've seen are:

➡️Someone pretending to be from Medicare claims your card needs to be replaced (often saying it has a chip or new security feature). They ask you to “verify” your Medicare number to mail the new card.
➡️Someone offers a “free health screening” or service if you provide your Medicare number.
➡️They'll claim you qualify for free medical equipment (knee braces, back braces, DNA tests, etc.) Then they ask for your Medicare number to “process” it.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You have the power to prevent ! One way scammers try to trick Medicare beneficiaries is by offering "free" products like back or knee braces, food, haircuts or other benefits for your Medicare number. That's a scam! Protect your Medicare number like you would a credit card number.

As Northeast Florida’s senior population grows, so does the struggle to afford housing. Data from the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida shows 53% of older renters spend 30%+ of their income on housing.
