Mahalo to Will S. of Lokahi Outrigger Jacksonville for letting the Ship paddle 2 of their OC-6s canoes. The scouts learned a great deal on the history, customs, and culture of outrigger canoeing. Assembling the longish 46' hull (wa'a), rigging the crossbeams (lako), seat assignments and duties depending on seat were covered and discussed. Paddling technique before launch, then on-water practice before fully enjoying a team paddle on Doctor's Lake! What a blast! 🤙🏽🛶

Wow, 10 years ago we got Sea Scouts spirit on the field of dreams. Happy Sea Scouting, muddy, muddy, muddy. Now we can cross without a fence. 😂⚜️⚓️

🇬🇮🏕️ Tomorrow, the adventure begins!

The Gibraltar Contingent departs for the 40th Blair Atholl International Patrol Jamborette, joining Scouts from around the world for 2 weeks of adventure, friendship, learning, and unforgettable memories.

We wish every young person and leader a safe journey and an incredible experience as they proudly represent Gibraltar on the international stage.

GLV Joseph Llufrio shared his best wishes:

“Blair Atholl is more than just a camp—it’s an opportunity to grow, challenge yourself, build lifelong friendships, and proudly represent Gibraltar. I have every confidence that our contingent will make us proud. Enjoy every moment, support one another, and return home with memories that will last a lifetime. Safe travels, and good luck to you all!”

One Gibraltar. One Adventure. One Family. 💙💛

North Florida Sea Scouts update. Sea Scout Ship 283 "Poseidon" Skipper Hans Guerrero earned two awards during NFC Sabol District Dinner. District Award and Skipper of the Year. "Great to see Blue Scouters. Congrats. Thanks a lot for keeping NFC Sea Scouts shining. Ten years ago we got the spark in Scotland Intl Jamborette to relaunch Sea Scouts in North Florida and you all have been keeping this helm on firm hands. BZ.

Why Sea Scouting was relaunched in North Florida and Transatlantic councils. ""Great leader and memories. Thanks to his "peer-pressure" during the 2016 Scottish Jamboree, we relaunched North Florida Sea Scouts and Sea Scout Ship 283 Poseidon. We continued growing after our 2017 visit to RN101 and then relaunched Transatlantic Sea Scouts and Ship 802 Windborne. We are connected International Sea Scouts. Great winds and Sea waves to the new leader and Gibraltar Sea Scouts. BZ ""

A historic moment for the Gibraltar Sea Scouts as leadership was formally handed over on the Founders’ Day Parade. After an incredible 35 years as Group Scout Leader, Eliott Cohen has retired from the role, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter. Elio has been part of the Sea Scouts for over 60 years, dedicating more than half a lifetime to shaping, guiding, and inspiring generations of Scouts.

During yesterday’s parade, Elio officially passed the leadership on to Joseph Llufrio, wishing him every success as he takes on this important responsibility.

Thank you, Elio, for your unwavering service and lasting legacy—you will always be a part of the Sea Scouts family ⚓💙

Ship POSEIDON’s Christmas Cook-out!
Some sailing, motorboating, and lots of holiday cheer over good grubs! 🎅🏼

Merry Christmas to All! 🌲

Motorboating Sunday! Little to no boat traffic on Doctors Lake (thanks to Jaguars' game) and a perfect Fall weather led to Sea Scout William taking the helm of our Dusky center console. He put in a couple of hours to work (and build) on his boat handling and operations skills, boat safety, and basic navigational knowledge. Lion Cub Jole joined in for the ride and brought with him his shark windsock. We may need a bigger boat next time! 🦈

Finally a mild afternoon for Ship 283’s first Sailing Sunday for 2025! Scouts Logan, Aaron, and William took the Aqua Finns on calm Doctors Lake. ⛵️
