There is nothing more chilling than hearing the words: “You have cancer.”

In that moment, everything changes.

The fear.
The numbness.
The confusion.
The questions: Why me? What happens now?

At ACCCOLPH, we get it because we have lived it.

This guy at the gym had been watching me for the last few days.

Today, he finally walked up, introduced himself, and said, Can I ask you a question?

I said, Yeah.what's up?

He said, “I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last month. Can we talk?”

We walked outside and talked. He told me he has Stage II prostate cancer. He said he has been keeping a good face around everybody, but deep down, he is scared. He looked at me and asked, Am I going to be okay?

I told him, “You caught it early, and that gives you a strong chance. But right now, you have to take care of you. Put yourself first. It is okay to be scared, but you do not have to go through this alone.”

We are going to lunch this week so we can sit down and talk some more.

This is exactly why I tell my story. You never know who is watching you, who is scared, or who just needs somebody who understands.

Today, I met another
