One of the most powerful community outreach events we have ever held. Our 2nd Annual Bowl of Smiles event provided free cereal to children at private schools who could not otherwise afford a meal during lunch time. The school would provide the milk and through your generous cereal donations, these kids could go through the lunch line (having no money), yet still leave with a meal in their hands. Thus allowing them to focus on school and not their growling stomachs. The beautiful "Thank You" cards made by these kids, still warms our hearts to this very day. This is what we mean by Don't Talk About It ... Be About It!
DTAIBAI’s Bowl of Smiles is a community outreach cereal drive effort providing, via donations, dry cereal for in-school children in need. The event supports private schools that refuse to let their students go through the cafeteria line and come out empty handed. The cereal drive program assists schools to ensure that education remains the priority on their student’s mind so that their hungry stomachs are no longer a distraction. Public schools have services provided for children in need. However, private schools do not have special funds towards these efforts. In trying times parents/guardians are barely able to pay for the tuition; therefore affording something as “simple” as a school breakfast has become a luxury many students cannot afford. Through the efforts of schools caring and DTAIBAI, we can now help to ensure no child is hungry while seeking their education. Thank you to all who support, prayed and donated towards these efforts. A special thank you goes to Holy Rosary & Ms. Lavetra for establishing such an extraordinary breakfast program. We collected over 100 boxes in cereals donation.
