We provide walk-in support services, mental health counseling and skills building classes to refugees living in NE Florida. Refugees who are brought to the U.S.

As volunteer friendship partners with World Relief, we helped a family who fled from Ethiopia—a mother and her two twin twenty-one year old sons. Their father was killed by Ethiopian police. They struggled to get work as their only skill was being a tailor. They also struggled learning how to pay their rent and navigate transportation. One day the mother got lost trying to take the bus to English

classes and didn’t know how to communicate to anyone her situation. She didn't have a phone so she wandered into a church and somehow communicated to someone the need to borrow a phone and called her sons who knew just enough English to be able to ask someone for transportation and get the address where the church was located. Needless to say this experience scared the mother so much that she refused to take the bus to English again. There are many more stories like this. need longer than a 90 day transition time. Imagine if you had to flee the U.S. and ended up in a country where you didn't know the language and were expected to be self-sufficient in 90 days. Could you do it?

Last week, we had the joy of honoring the incredible refugee mothers we resettled by delivering flowers to them. It was a small way to recognize the courage, resilience, and love they show every single day.

There was so much joy, laughter, and beauty shared at our Women’s Afghan Tea this week. 🌸☕✨

Thanks to the kindness and support of our amazing volunteers who were able to create a special space where refugee women could simply relax, connect, create, and feel celebrated. From heartfelt conversations to moments of creativity and shared smiles, the afternoon was filled with warmth and community.

Many of these women carry incredible stories of courage and resilience. Seeing them laugh together, build friendships, and enjoy a moment of peace reminded us how important community and belonging truly are. ❤️

Refugee families come through a lengthy legal process after fleeing war and persecution—but misinformation shapes how they are seen and welcomed.

We’re working to change that.

Through the Refugee Journey Experience, our community will step into the real challenges refugees face—and begin to see them as neighbors.

To bring this vision to life, we need to raise $15,000.

Our Third Annual Refugee Fashion Show was a resounding celebration of resilience and talent, shining a light on the inspiring stories of these remarkable women. The radiant smiles of our sewing class ladies as they walked the red carpet was absolutely beautiful. Special thanks to the women of Faith Community Methodist Church for hosting our event and to all who joined us in honoring their achievements.

We were so blessed to host a team from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Clemson this week!

For three days, they served alongside us with incredible joy and willing hearts. They jumped into anything that was needed—helping clean and organize our office, preparing food distribution bags, detailing vehicles, and even delivering furniture to families in need.

What stood out most was their attitude. They didn’t just serve—they served with joy, humility, and a true desire to make a difference.

It was also a gift to spend time together, sharing refugee stories and encouraging them as they continue to serve others in their own community.

We are so grateful for their time, their hearts, and their partnership in this work. 💛

Relationships are the best teachers! 🤝✨

We’ve had so much fun connecting our refugee moms with the incredible nurses from the Jax Family Connect Program. These sessions are about more than just healthcare; they are about building a bridge of trust and understanding. By sharing stories and learning about life right here in Jacksonville together, we’re ensuring that our city’s service providers can serve with true cultural humility.

When we build relationships, we don’t just "provide a service"—we build a community where everyone feels they belong.

In fact, studies find that refugees with strong social ties to their new community report a significantly higher sense of belonging and are more likely to access the preventative healthcare they need.
