Thank you Daya Caballero , our superstar intern from Florida State College at Jacksonville! She completed 2 summer assignments with the Literacy Alliance and will graduate with a Human Services degree at the end of this month.

Dayana developed and provided kids' programming so parents could continue attending class in the summer while the children participated in fun and educational activities. She supported many community Outreach and Family Literacy Events the past two summers bringing professionalism, positivity, and a passion for literacy. She also created and organized our online educational resources, enabling teachers and staff to easily access materials, which saves time and ensures high-quality resources are readily available. She provided administrative support, including tracking volunteer hours, calling students, and assisting wherever needed.

We are so proud of Dayana and can't wait to hear when she gets settled into her next chapter. We wish her the very best and are grateful for her service and commitment to the Literacy Alliance.

Help Our Adult Education Students Start the School Year Ready to Succeed!

As the new school year begins, we're asking our community to help ensure our Adult Education students and teachers have the classroom supplies they need to thrive.

There are two easy ways to help:

>Purchase items from our Walmart Registry/ Literacy Alliance Back to School (link is below). They will be shipped to us.
>Shop your favorite local stores during their Back-to-School sales and drop supplies off at our office at 40 E. Adams St, Suite 215 Jacksonville, FL 32202

Now is the perfect time to give! Florida's Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday runs July 20 through August 20, so you can save while helping students prepare for success.

Items like paper, folders, pencils, highlighters, binders, and other classroom essentials make a meaningful difference. Every donation helps create a positive learning environment where our students can focus on achieving their educational and career goals.

Thank you for supporting our students, teachers, and the learning opportunities that strengthen our community!

A diploma is more than a piece of paper; it is a second chance, a fresh start, and proof that it is never too late to rewrite your story.

Surrounded by family, friends, volunteers, and supporters, our graduates celebrated a milestone that will open the door to new careers, stronger families, and brighter futures. As this year's valedictorian, Keltcy S., shared, "The Literacy Alliance really helped me believe it's not too late to focus on new career opportunities that I originally missed out on. The best support for me personally was the motivated teachers; they want you to get your degree just as much as you want it, if not more."

After leaving school in the eighth grade and attempting to earn her diploma three different times, Keltcy says she found the encouragement and support she needed with the Literacy Alliance and will continue with the organization to earn her Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certification.

Deciding to start is the hardest step, and the Literacy Alliance will support you every step of the way. To learn more about our programs, students, volunteers, and the support we offer throughout the community, visit literacyallnefl.org.

The Literacy Alliance proudly celebrated 80 high school diploma graduates who demonstrated that determination, resilience, and hard work can turn goals into reality. We also celebrated students who are on their way to reaching their diploma, certifications, and career goals.

Each student has overcome challenges, balanced responsibilities, and stayed committed to their education. Their journey is a powerful reminder that it's never too late to learn, grow, and achieve your dreams.

Also, a big "Thank You" to all the volunteers who help students by providing weekly one-on-one tutoring and other support.

We are so proud of all you have accomplished and can't wait to see where your next chapter takes you. Your dedication inspires our entire community.

Congratulations! Here's to 80 graduates, 80 success stories, and countless bright futures ahead!

The Literacy Alliance is proud to have 15 students whose stories were published by the Florida Literacy Coalition in the "Journeys in Learning: A Collection of Essays by Florida's Adult Learners." Their imagination, creativity, and true determination shine through in their essays reflecting a range of perspectives and life experiences as diverse as the authors themselves. Congratulations to Tyreeka, Latonya, Betsy, Adrienne, Alexandria, Noy, David, Johnnie Mae, Latorray, Kiara, Marilyn, Annette, Gilberto, Rufus, and Sarah. Nice job authors!

Thank you to the Florida Literacy Coalition for reviewing and publishing the collection of essays each year. The students and their essays are truly inspiring!

Here is Betsy pictured with the Journeys in Learning publication. She also read her essay at the Florida Literacy Conference in May.
