KIM OKIE MCDONOUGH
Role Model of the Year 2022

Some of Kim's accomplishments are: Founder and President of Rutgers Performing Dance Company in 1989-1991. This company still exists and is running strong over thirty years. She recently returned from a trip to see their Annual Spring Concert and teach a master class to current members of this organization. From 1998 - 1991 Kim worked professionally with the Hot Foot Agency based in Philadelphia. This experience showed her the performance side of dance. She had the opportunity to perform and many unique venues and learned how to perform with little prep time and always show your best on stage no matter what. From 1991-1994, Kim became the Faculty Advisor for Rutgers Performing Dance Company as she worked at Douglass Disabilities Center at Rutgers University. Her Psychology degree came in handy as she worked full time with children with Autism. During this time, she also worked as a dance teacher at East Brunswick Recreation, Rutgers Extracurricular dance programs and Jazz Unlimited in Marlton NJ where she grew up. Kim had boundless energy and strong work ethic her whole life. In high school, she participated in Student government, Marching band, Concert and Symphonic band, Dance, Cheerleading and managed to have a part time job. This pattern of hard work carried through college and after college. From 1990-1994, Kim worked at Jazz Unlimited in Marlton NJ under the direction of Carryl Slobotkin. Carryl was large influence in Kim's life. They continue to have a close relationship that includes mentorship and love.
