Honoring Black Philanthropy & Community Impact
R.E.S.T.O.R.E.’s Founder and Executive Director, Rebecca Smith, was honored to serve on a powerful Black Philanthropy Month panel alongside dedicated leaders committed to creating meaningful change in our communities.
Rebecca shared that her understanding of philanthropy began with her parents and the small-town community where she grew up—where she witnessed people caring for one another by giving their time, talents, resources, and connections, often without recognition.
She also reminded us that Black philanthropy is not new—and it is not always publicized. Just because a name isn’t displayed on a building or a donation isn’t shared publicly doesn’t mean the giving isn’t happening.
Philanthropy is often found in the quiet acts of service, generosity, mentorship, advocacy, and community care that happen every day.
R.E.S.T.O.R.E. is grateful to Rebecca for representing our organization and sharing this important perspective. We’re also thankful for the members of the Like Minds, Like Hearts Giving Circle who showed their support by attending the event.
Together, we continue to honor the legacy of giving while creating opportunities for communities to thrive.
