✨ Meet Our Storyteller: Trevor Rodrigo Austin-Pearson ✨

Entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and community advocate, Trevor Rodrigo Austin-Pearson has dedicated his career to creating opportunities for individuals, organizations, and communities to thrive.

As the CEO of Trevor Pearson Group and Hidden Gems Tours, Trevor combines his passion for economic empowerment, education, and cultural awareness to support organizations seeking grant funding and to share meaningful stories of Black history and culture. His decades of leadership in workforce development, nonprofit capacity building, and community engagement have helped strengthen communities and expand access to opportunity.

Through his work, Trevor continues to champion equity, lifelong learning, and the power of storytelling to inspire change. We are honored to welcome him to the New American Speakers Program (NASP) Cohort 10 and look forward to hearing his story and insights.

✨ Meet Our Storyteller: Sang Rem ✨

Sang Rem's journey from Chin State, Myanmar (Burma), to the United States is a story of resilience, determination, and service. After arriving as a refugee teenager and learning English in Oklahoma, she went on to earn degrees in Child Development and Family Life Education and dedicate her career to supporting refugee communities.

For more than nine years, Sang has worked in refugee resettlement, helping families navigate new beginnings and build successful lives in the United States. She is also the author of My Refugee Journey from Myanmar/Burma to USA, a children's book that shares her personal story and promotes understanding of the refugee experience.

Through her work, advocacy, and storytelling, Sang continues to inspire others while creating pathways of hope and opportunity for newcomers.

We are honored to welcome Sang to the New American Speakers Program (NASP) Cohort 10 and look forward to hearing her story.

Driven by resilience, faith, and a commitment to service, this storyteller has transformed personal challenges into a lifelong mission of advocacy and leadership.

As a child welfare professional, U.S. Air Force Reserve servicemember, educator, and community advocate, he works to support vulnerable children, strengthen families, and empower refugee and immigrant communities. Drawing from his own experience as the child of a refugee family, he understands the challenges of building a new life and uses his voice to inspire hope, belonging, and opportunity for others.

Through public service and community leadership, he demonstrates the power of perseverance and the impact of giving back. We are honored to welcome him to the New American Speakers Program (NASP) Cohort 10 and look forward to hearing his story.

Originally from Haiti, Maritza brings a unique perspective shaped by her journey, education, and commitment to uplifting others. After arriving in the United States, she founded The Karis, a business dedicated to celebrating Haitian culture and bringing people together through authentic culinary experiences that foster warmth, belonging, and community.

Through her work and leadership, Maritza demonstrates the power of resilience, entrepreneurship, and cultural pride. She believes that success is not only about personal achievement but also about creating opportunities that inspire and empower others.

Through education and meaningful dialogue, she inspires others to embrace their stories, build resilience, and make a positive impact in their communities.
