Are We Already Living in a Social Media Simulation? (Phase 4)

It didn’t happen all at once.

First, we shared real moments.
Then we edited them.
Then we staged them.

Now we’ve reached something else entirely.

A version of reality where what you see… isn’t always real.

So the question is simple:
Are we living life… or performing it?

You can find a version of the truth on Facebook.
Just depends on who you follow.

But truth isn’t something you scroll into.

Truth can make you angry.
Truth can set you free.
Truth can humble you.
Truth can divide you.
Truth can cost you.

So what are you really after
confirmation
or truth?

“Everyone else is doing it.”

You have probably heard that phrase before. In advertising, marketing, and even everyday conversation, it is used to push people toward a decision.

This tactic is called social proof. Humans naturally look to the behavior of others to decide what must be correct, popular, or safe.

At The Collective Perspective, our goal is not to make people cynical. Our goal is to clarify. We want to build awareness, not paranoia, about the messages we encounter every day.

Once you recognize the tactic, it becomes much easier to think clearly about the decisions you make.

False Scarcity Sometimes the product is real. Sometimes the deal is real. But the urgency is not.

In this episode of The Collective Perspective Podcast, Jeff and Travis break down one of the most common psychological tactics used in advertising and sales: false scarcity.

You have probably seen it before. “Only one left.” “Limited supply.” “Deal expires tonight.”

But when you start asking simple questions like where is the VIN number or how many are actually available, the story changes.

False scarcity works because it triggers emotion. And humans tend to act on emotion much faster than logic or reason.

The goal of this conversation is not to make people cynical. It is to help people slow down, recognize the tactic, and make decisions with clarity instead of pressure.
Once you see the tactic, it becomes much harder to manipulate you with it.

ChatGPT is not human. You can feel it.

In this short clip from The Collective Perspective, Jeff reflects on what it actually felt like to talk with ChatGPT during their interview. The answers were clear. The information was useful. But something was missing.

Human conversation carries emotion, tone, and lived experience. AI does not. The interaction felt almost sterile. Not wrong. Just different.

This raises a bigger question for the digital age. As AI becomes more common in our daily lives, will we start mistaking useful information for real human connection?

ChatGPT Requires Context, What is Yours?
Even with ChatGPT, context matters. If a problem is not clearly articulated, the answer you get may not actually solve what you are asking. In this short clip from The Collective Perspective, Jeff and Travis talk about the importance of language, nuance, and why the quality of your question often determines the quality of the answer.

What happens when you sit AI down like it’s a real guest and just start asking questions?

No hype. No fear. No agenda. Just a real conversation.

In Episode 81 of The Collective Perspective, we did something different. We interviewed ChatGPT like it was a person and let the answers unfold naturally.

Is AI replacing thinking?
Is it just a tool?
Are we already using it more than we realize?

This isn’t about panic. It’s about curiosity.

What happens when a human thought meets artificial intelligence?

In this short from The Collective Perspective Podcast, Jeff explores a simple but important question about authenticity and AI. If you come up with an idea, bring it to ChatGPT to help refine it, and then present that idea to the world, whose thought is it?

Is AI creating the idea, or is it simply a tool that helps shape something that already started in the human mind?

This conversation looks at AI the same way we look at any tool. It can help organize, clarify, and sharpen a thought, but the original spark still comes from a person.

Maybe the real question is not whether AI is replacing thinking, but how we choose to use it.
