🎀 THRIVING THURSDAY 🌊

Give Yourself Permission to Live

Cancer has a way of putting life on hold.

We wait for the next appointment.
The next treatment.
The next blood test.
The next scan.
The next set of results.

And somewhere in all that waiting, we can start believing that we have to wait for cancer to be “over” before we’re allowed to really live again.

We don’t.

Today, give yourself permission to live exactly where you are.

🌸 Wear the outfit.

🌊 Go sit by the ocean.

🎶 Turn up the music.

☕ Have coffee with someone who makes you laugh.

💗 Say no without feeling guilty.

🌅 Watch the sunrise.

🙏 Pray.

😴 Rest when your body asks you to rest.

And on the days when doing absolutely nothing is what you need—that counts, too.

Thriving doesn’t mean pretending cancer isn’t frightening.

It doesn’t mean being positive every minute.

And it certainly doesn’t mean you have to be “strong” for everyone else.

Sometimes thriving simply means deciding:

Cancer may be part of my story.
It does not get to be the whole story.

Today, don’t wait for someday.

Live today.

🌸 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY 🎀

PUT THE PHONE DOWN. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE PRODUCTIVE TODAY.

We are constantly connected—texts, emails, social media, notifications, news and the endless scroll.

Sometimes wellness means disconnecting.

Put your phone in another room. Step away from social media. Sit outside. Watch the ocean. Listen to the birds. Drink your coffee while it’s still hot.

And for a little while…

Do absolutely nothing.

You don’t need to accomplish something every minute of every day. You don’t have to turn your downtime into another task.

Rest doesn’t have to be earned.

Give your brain permission to be quiet and your body permission to simply be.

🎀 Today’s Wellness Challenge:
Put your phone away for 30 minutes and intentionally be completely, wonderfully unproductive.

No scrolling.
No checking.
No multitasking.
No guilt.

Just be present. 💗

Sometimes doing nothing is exactly what you need.

🌸 MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY 🌸

Last week we focused on gently opening and stretching the chest after a mastectomy. This week, we’re creating balance by giving some love to our backs. 🧘‍♀️🎀

When the front of our body has been through surgery and healing, posture can change and the shoulders and back may carry extra tension. Gentle movement can help us reconnect with our entire body.

This week we’re trying three gentle yoga stretches:

🩷 Cat-Cow — encourages movement through the spine
🩷 Child’s Pose with Side Stretch — lengthens the back and sides
🩷 Thread the Needle — gently stretches the upper back and shoulders

The goal isn’t how far you can stretch. The goal is movement, balance and patience with your healing body.

Stretch the front. Stretch the back. Find your balance. 🌸

Always get clearance from your medical team after breast surgery and stop if a movement causes pain.

🎀 Breathe. Move. Rebuild. Rise.

🌅🌸 SUNDAY SUNRISE SCRIPTURES 🌸🌅
🙏🏼21st Sunday in Ordinary Time🙏🏼

✝️ “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.” — Matthew 16:18

Today’s Gospel asks us the same powerful question Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered with faith: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

When life feels uncertain—when we face illness, fear, difficult decisions, or an unknown tomorrow—we need something solid beneath our feet. Christ is our rock. 💗

May we begin this Sunday trusting that our faith is stronger than our fear and that God remains beside us through every changing tide. 🌊🙏

🩷 FACTUAL FRIDAY 🩷

🧬 WHY GENETIC TESTING MATTERED TO ME AFTER BREAST CANCER🧬

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, there were so many questions.

Why did this happen? What does this mean for my future? And what does it mean for my family?

Genetic testing helped give me some of those answers.

I learned that I carry an inherited BRCA1 gene mutation. Suddenly, this wasn’t simply information about the cancer I was fighting—it was information that could help guide decisions about my care and help me better understand my future cancer risks.

And just as importantly, it was information that could matter to my family.

🧬 That is the power of genetic testing.

For someone already diagnosed with breast cancer, genetic testing may help:

🎀 Identify inherited mutations such as BRCA1 or BRCA2

🎀 Help doctors make decisions about certain treatments and surgical options

🎀 Identify whether you may have an increased risk for developing certain additional cancers

🎀 Help determine whether enhanced screening or other risk-reducing strategies should be considered

🎀 Give family members information that may help them understand their own potential inherited risk

For me, knowing my BRCA1 status didn’t change what had already happened.

It changed what I could do with that information moving forward.

Knowledge gave me another tool to advocate for myself, ask better questions and make informed decisions with my medical team.

And that is something I want every woman facing breast cancer to understand:

Genetic testing isn’t only about finding out WHY.

Sometimes it’s about helping determine WHAT COMES NEXT.

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, ask your oncologist whether genetic counseling and germline genetic testing are appropriate for you. Testing today may involve BRCA1 and BRCA2 as well as other genes associated with hereditary breast cancer.

🌸 WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 🌸
You Are Beautiful. You Are Loved. You Are Seen. You Are Heard.

Cancer can change so many things.

It can change your body.
It can change your hair.
It can leave scars.
It can change the way you look in the mirror—and sometimes, the way you feel about the person looking back.

But today, Pink Tides of Hope wants you to remember something:

💕 You are beautiful.
Not because of your hair, your breasts, your weight, your scars, or what cancer has changed. Your beauty lives in the strength, kindness, courage, and light you carry within you.

💕 You are loved.
Even on the days when you withdraw. Even when you’re tired of being “strong.” Even when you don’t have the energy to show up for everyone else. You are worthy of love simply because you are you.

💕 You are seen.
We see the appointments no one else remembers. The scan anxiety. The medications. The side effects. The quiet fears. The mornings when getting out of bed feels like an accomplishment.

💕 You are heard.
Your feelings matter. Your questions matter. Your fears matter. Your opinions about your body and your treatment matter. Your voice belongs in every conversation about your care.

🧘‍♀️ This Week’s Mindful Moment

Find a quiet place and sit comfortably.

Place one hand over your heart.

Take three slow breaths.

Then quietly say:

I am beautiful.
I am loved.
I am seen.
I am heard.
I am worthy.
I am enough.

Don’t rush through the words.

Breathe between them.

Let yourself believe them.

Because sometimes mindfulness isn’t about emptying our minds.

Sometimes it’s about filling them with the truths we’ve forgotten. 🌸

Wonderful Wednesday Reminder:
Cancer is something happening in your life.
It is not the definition of your life.

You are still YOU.

Beautiful. Loved. Seen. Heard. 💗

🌸 MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY 🌸

🧘‍♀️ 3 GENTLE YOGA POSES TO OPEN THE CHEST AFTER MASTECTOMY

Healing is movement—and sometimes the smallest stretch is a big victory.

After a mastectomy, tightness across the chest, shoulders and underarms can make movement uncomfortable. Once your medical team has cleared you for stretching, these three simple yoga poses can help you gently reconnect with your upper body.

🌸 1. WALL CACTUS

Stand with your back near a wall. Bend your elbows into a gentle “goalpost” or cactus shape, palms facing forward.

Slowly allow the chest to open without forcing your arms backward.

Helps with:
✨ Chest tightness
✨ Shoulder mobility
✨ Posture
✨ Gentle pectoral stretching

🌸 2. CHILD’S POSE WITH FORWARD REACH

Begin on your hands and knees and slowly sit your hips toward your heels while reaching your hands forward.

Only reach as far as feels comfortable.

Helps with:
✨ Lengthening the sides of the chest
✨ Shoulder and upper-back mobility
✨ Gentle underarm stretching
✨ Relaxation and breathing

If reaching both arms forward is uncomfortable, keep your hands closer to your body or use pillows for support.

🌸 3. SUPPORTED CHEST OPENER

Lie comfortably on your back with a pillow or folded blanket supporting your upper back. Allow your arms to relax outward—only as far as comfortable.

Take several slow, deep breaths.

Helps with:
✨ Opening the front of the chest
✨ Relaxing tight shoulders
✨ Improving posture awareness
✨ Encouraging slow, mindful breathing

🎀 Remember: stretching should feel gentle—not painful.

After breast surgery, more isn’t better. Consistency and patience are.

Your range of motion today doesn’t determine where you’ll be tomorrow.

🌸 Breathe. Stretch. Rebuild. Rise. 🌸
