Hopefully, your list of fun things to do this summer includes a visit to Jacksonville’s Norman Studios Silent Film Museum! This coming weekend – on Saturday, June 20, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – volunteers will be on hand to greet visitors interested in our city’s silent film legacy! We’re located at 6337 Arlington Road in a motion picture studio that was built 110 years ago, and stands very much as it did back then! Admission is free although donations are very much appreciated!

In lieu of an "Open Saturday" this coming June 6, the Norman Studios Silent Film Museum will host a special event next weekend on Saturday, June 13!

To commemorate Juneteenth, we will present a short silent film titled "Mute," along with a "Black Heroes" presentation offered by Jacksonville's Performance Academy.

The Performance Academy is a nonprofit arts organization providing youth the opportunity to develop creative and life skills through visual arts, dance, music, and acting, with a focus on underserved and at-risk youth.

This special event will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, in the Rita F. Reagan Set Building at 6360 Commerce Street - just behind our museum located on Arlington Road in Jacksonville. In recognition of Juneteenth, the Norman Studios Silent Film Museum is proud to present a short silent movie titled "Mute," along with a "Black Heroes" presentation offered by Jacksonville's Performance Academy.

There are only a handful of museums in the world devoted to preserving the history of early cinema, Jacksonville's Norman Studios Silent Film Museum being one of them. THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 25, AT 1:30 P.M. THE NORMAN STUDIOS SILENT FILM MUSEUM WLL HOST ANOTHER OF ITS FREE-ADMISSION “SCREENING ROOM” EVENTS WITH DOORS OPENING AT 1:00 P.M. Two silent films made by the Thanhouser Company – which had a studio in Jacksonville’s Springfield neighborhood – will be shown in the Rita Reagan Set Building located at 6360 Commerce Street, immediately behind our museum on Arlington Road in Jacksonville! The screening of a short 1912 drama titled “The Girl of the Grove” shot in St. Augustine will be followed by “The Net” which is a 1916 feature-length melodrama filmed in Mayport. Prior to the showing a brief annual meeting will be conducted to outline past year’s accomplishments and future plans. ADMISSION IS FREE ALTHOUGH DONATIONS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
