EPIC Outreach (EPIC) is a nonprofit 501c3 that was founded in 2015 to inspire kindness and compassion through rescuing animals while providing humane education outreach to children and adults. The mission is to create a kinder and more compassionate world for people, animals, and the planet . In 2019 EPIC created an education farm sanctuary where rescued horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, chickens, pig

s, a bunny, and guinea pigs find safety and love. Most stay to live in permanent sanctuary while being education ambassadors telling their stories of rescue through visits in schools or tours at the sanctuary. Through their stories they inspire kindness.

Some animals are adopted into loving homes making room for new farm animals in need. You can help by donating, volunteering, sharing with others.

🎂🎂It's Farmer JACK's birthday today. Will you help us wish him a Happy Birthday. He helps to make the farm run smoothly every single day from ensuring the animals have water to filling feed bins. The farm wouldn't be the same without him. Today is his day, will you leave a comment and tell him how much he is loved and appreciated!

🐽👨‍⚕️🐽Today was a busy day at the farm! Two of the three piglets were successfully castrated, but the third one turned out to be cryptorchid. Many people ask, "What does that mean?"

A cryptorchid animal is one whose testicles haven't fully descended into the sc***um and instead remain tucked up inside the abdomen or higher up in the body. When that happens, a routine field castration becomes a much more complicated procedure. 😔Because the retained testicle has to be located and surgically removed from inside the body, the surgery is more invasive and carries a higher risk of infection if performed outside of a clinical setting. It also takes more time, and local anesthesia alone isn't sufficient. In a veterinary clinic, the animal can be placed under general anesthesia, connected to oxygen, closely monitored throughout the procedure, and receive the level of care needed for a safer outcome.

💗🙌So while two piglets were able to have their procedures done today, the little cryptorchid guy will need a trip to the clinic for his special surgery.

It's one of those behind-the-scenes realities of rescue that many people don't see. Every animal is different, and sometimes what appears to be a routine procedure turns into something requiring additional planning, time, and expense.

👨‍⚕️Dr. Rigdon with Rigdon Veterinary Services also looked at GIZMO, one of the pigs in our refeed program. He isn't gaining weight like he should and he always been one to not pack on the weight despite what we feed him. We pulled blood work to run and will await those results. Today's visit was $1,120!!!

🙌🐽Say a little prayer for PEANUT the piglet and friends. Today is a big vet day. PEANUT got dropped off at Black Creek Veterinary Hospital yesterday for his invasive cryptorchip surgery today. He is in good hands and will be back to recovering at the sanctuary tomorrow.

In addition our trusted farm vet Rigdon Veterinary Services will be arriving at the farm soon to castrate the three new piglets that arrived on Sunday. Once they have a few days to recover they will be going to their forever home in Gainesville.

💚Big veterinary day which will have a hefty bill to pay to both vet clinics. Money gets spent fast around here to care for all these animals. But it's lifesaving so worth every penny spent. You can click the first comment and make a donation today to help - your gift goes far taking care of animals like little PEANUT and friends.

🐷💗 MAGICAL MONDAY BARNSIDE CHAT with GIZMO💗 🐷 Watch closely and you'll notice that GIZMO takes little scoops of food to eat. He isn't a pig that rushes through mealtime, and in a herd setting, that can make it hard to get the calories and nutrition he needs.

That's why we're building separate feeding spaces for pigs like GIZMO. Spaces where they can eat peacefully, without competition or stress.

🥕🍅Thank you for helping us create a place where every pig, no matter how they eat, gets the care they deserve.

💗🐽Who's ready for some cuteness? Look at these babies. Three little Kunekune/Juliana potbelly piglets arrived today. They are only staying temporarily as a foster under Eastern Snouts Adoption and Rehoming. They already have a home!

EPIC Outreach was going to originally take them in, and then a home was found, but the only thing standing in the way was the piglets getting castrated, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. So here we are. They will see the vet soon, recover, and then be on their way to their forever family. Adoption makes lifesaving possible. The only way we can help pigs like these three is when people donate. If you would like to support their vet care please visit the link in the first comment.

🤔What do you think their names should be? We need names for their vet visit. Something catchy for three little pigs!

🐕💗SHELTER DOG SUNDAY💗🐕
We want to share a rural shelter that has been on our radar and has quite a few fantastic dogs lookign for a home. The Suwannee County Animal Control is looking for help with dogs in their care.

🐕💗Meet HUDSON. HUDSON is the cutest floppy-eared heeler mix, and as many of you know, we have a soft spot for these intelligent, energetic, sometimes wonderfully chaotic dogs. We just need to find the bandwidth to go meet him and possibly co sider him for foster under EPIC Outreach. 😔And the sad part is that HUDSON isn't the only one. There are actually quite a few dogs at this shelter who need a chance. The reality is that these rural shelters often don't have the visibility that larger organizations do. Their dogs go unseen. Several people have reached out asking us to help because this shelter, like many others, have too many dogs just sitting in kennels.

🙏So here we are, adding one more post about animals in need to your newsfeed, because we still believe in the power of sharing. If you've been thinking about adopting, fostering, or if you're a rescue that might have room to pull a dog or two, please take a look. Maybe HUDSON has already found his person. Maybe one of the other dogs has been waiting for someone just like you.

🫶🐕🐕We can't save them all. But sometimes all it takes is one person saying, "I'll help this one." For now, I'm going to keep thinking about this floppy-eared boy and see if life has room to help one more dog in need. He is super cute and deserves a chance. Dogs in foster homes have better chances of finding homes than when they just sit in a kennel in a shelter overwhelmed with animals in need.

💗🫶Today was a day filled with both celebration and gratitude. Volunteers and visitors came out to spend time loving on BUCK, sharing stories, giving scratches, offering treats, and simply being present with a horse who has touched so many lives. He is cherished by more people than I think he'll ever truly know.

At the same time, the work of the sanctuary carried on. Stalls were cleaned, waters were changed, buckets were scrubbed, p**p was scooped, and the pigs soaked up plenty of extra love and attention too. There is something beautiful about people showing up not only to say, "I love you," but also to roll up their sleeves and help care for the animals we all adore.

💵📚As if the day couldn't get any sweeter, we also learned that EPIC Outreach was awarded a $2,500 grant from the Jacksonville Beaches WomansClub 🎉📚This incredible gift will help support our humane education outreach efforts through children's books that will be shared in the community and here at the farm. We believe that changing the world starts with planting seeds of kindness in young hearts, and we're so grateful for this investment in that mission.

🐴❤️Today, people laughed, cried, hugged, worked, and shared stories about what BUCK means to them. It was a reminder that community is a beautiful thing. Soon, we'll share more about BUCK and this sacred thing we do when we love an animal so deeply that we choose to say goodbye before suffering begins. It is one of the hardest acts of love we are ever called to make, and one that carries both heartbreak and grace.

🙏💗But today wasn't about goodbye. Today was about celebrating a life well lived, the people who make this work possible, and the incredible privilege of loving and being loved by animals like BUCK. Our hearts are full. Thank you for being part of this journey.

💗Our little man INDIE is home safe and sound from the vet. He is still recovering and little out of sorts, but we are so grateful he is done with his castration and will soon be onto bigger and better things. We love this little wild man. He needs lots of guidance still, but we are going to learn together so stay tuned as we share his journey of learning fun!

💗Earlier this week the horses got their monthly hooficures. BUCK was the best boy and OPIE was the best boy too! Everyone did fantastic and are good for the next 5 weeks.

💅🐴How many of you get pedicures? How often do you go to the nail salon? For many humans a pedicure or manicure is a luxury, for horses it is essential. Horses spend the majority of their time on their feet so ensuring they have healthy and happy feet is critical to their overall care. Every 5 weeks we spend $245 to have their hooves trimmed and cleaned.

💙🐴 A little INDIE update. This sweet boy arrived at the The Equine Medical Center of Ocala safe and sound! He was a bit reluctant to step off the trailer (we can't blame him!), but eventually walked off and into his stall like the good boy he is. 💗The best news? His castration surgery yesterday went even better than expected.

🐴Because INDIE is a cryptorchid pony, we anticipated a more invasive procedure to retrieve his retained boy parts. However, once he was sedated and positioned for surgery, those boy parts popped into an easier-to-reach location, allowing the veterinary team to complete the procedure with less invasiveness than originally expected. What a relief!

🙌We're leaving INDIE at the clinic for one extra day of care and monitoring, and he'll be heading back home to the sanctuary on Friday, just in time for the weekend. We are so grateful for the incredible veterinary team taking such good care of him and for everyone who has followed along and supported his journey.

Now comes the healing. And once that's behind him, INDIE will finally get to do what we've been dreaming of for him all along, he can head out into the pasture, make friends, and simply enjoy being a pony. 💗Thank you for loving this little guy right alongside us. We can't wait to share this next chapter with you.
