Leukemia cells can adapt in surprising ways.

A new study shows they can reshape their mitochondria to escape the effects of venetoclax, a widely used treatment for acute myeloid leukemia.

Researchers pinpointed the protein behind this change and found that blocking it in mice restored the drug’s impact and extended survival.

It is early work, but it highlights a key driver of resistance and a possible new direction for patients whose treatments lose effectiveness.

🔬 Research like this helps move us closer to more reliable options for people with leukemia.
