The Giving Closet Project

The Giving Closet Project The GCP is a 501(c)3 that provides clothing and hygiene items to students in need, elevating their self-esteem and dignity. Not just how well they do on a test.

Removing barriers to student success including bullying, chronic absenteeism, and the inability to focus in the classroom. The Giving Closet Project is just the first of many projects that will be the beginning of what public schools across the nation are in desperate need of, HOPE! It’s time for communities to awaken their hearts, and start helping the children in need where they spend the majori

ty of their time, in school. It’s time to give all children the safe haven they need and deserve, right in their own school community. The Giving Closet will not only help children build their self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth, but also show them that there are people who care about them and their overall well-being. While everyone around the country has been in an uproar about Common Core and the pressures of state testing, we’ve lost sight about what’s really important, shaping our future leaders of tomorrow! The well-being of the whole child needs to be a priority, and The Giving Closet will help fill many of the missing pieces. Schools need to stop thinking about their next event down the road to help children in need, but make it a part of a child’s everyday life. Making a difference and leaving lasting imprints in children’s lives, will not only shape our next generation into becoming a caring, empathetic, and a loving society again. But will get more people involved in humanitarian work within our schools each and every day to help our children in need. Thank you,
Jennifer Smith

A memory worth revisiting. ❤️

Several years ago, The Giving Closet Project took on our first-ever community center closet buildout at the Center of Hope inside the Emmett Reed Community Center.

What started as an empty canvas became a warm, welcoming resource for families thanks to our small but mighty team and more than 100 volunteers who dedicated countless hours after work, and whenever help was needed. Every detail mattered because we believed families deserved access to quality clothing and resources in a space that preserved dignity and inspired hope.

Today, that closet is known as Threads of Resilience. While our role may have changed, I remain incredibly proud of what was built and the impact it continues to have on families throughout the 32209.

To everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped bring this vision to life, thank you. This is what compassion in action looks like.

You can’t fake this kind of joy.

Every student deserves to feel confident walking into school, an interview, or a special event. Today was filled with financial literacy, new opportunities, and shopping our teen & career boutique! This reminds us why this work matters.

Thank you to EverBank and the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation for investing in these incredible young people.

No student should ever have to go without.

At The Giving Closet Project, our heart beats for one simple truth: Every student deserves the dignity of having their basic needs met.

They deserve a full wardrobe, access to hygiene essentials, and to know they are seen, heard, and valued by their community.

While school halls are quiet for summer break, our mission is loud. This summer, we are making one of our biggest moves in 10 years, and we need you to stand with us.

We are rallying our community to ensure that before the school year begins, GCP is fully funded and our resources are overflowing. We aren’t just preparing supplies; we are preparing students to thrive.

Why partner with us TODAY? Because your investment goes further here.

Through strategic partnerships with Duval and Palm Beach school districts and over 50 social service agencies, we multiply your impact, creating a direct conduit from your generosity to a student’s daily life. Research confirms that steady, monthly giving is the single structure that allows us to dream bigger and guarantee these needs are met, month after month.

Now is the time to collectively sow the seeds of change that will impact thousands of lives this upcoming school year.

Become a stakeholder in a decade of healing by joining one of our Giving Societies:

🌱 SEED SOWER SOCIETY ($12.50/mo): Sows seeds of change immediately, providing a full, new wardrobe and essentials for 1 student.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 CARE TAKERS SOCIETY ($50/mo): Fortifies an entire family of 5 with essentials for the entire year.

🔑 OPEN DOOR SOCIETY ($100/mo): Ensures 6 students are fully equipped and supports critical emergency appointments.

Choose to be a steady force in a student’s corner. Let’s make this summer the foundation for their future.

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible team from for rolling up their sleeves and putting in the work at our Duval Hub yesterday!

We were honored to welcome store managers from Georgia and North Florida who spent the morning serving.

What makes partnerships like this so special is that they go beyond donations, they are rooted in people who genuinely care about making a difference in their communities. Your energy and teamwork were felt yesterday, thank you!

And while we can’t share all the details just yet… let’s just say there are some exciting things on the horizon. 👀 Stay tuned!

Another school year is coming to a close, and we just want to take a moment to say this:
To every student who walked through the doors this year — we see you.
To every parent doing their best — we see you.
To every teacher, counselor, volunteer, donor, and community member who showed up to support local families — thank you.
This year was filled with backpacks, hygiene kits, clothing, shoes, snacks, encouragement, tears, laughter, and so many moments that reminded us what community really means.
The Giving Closet Project was never just about “things.”
It’s about dignity. Hope. Showing students and families that they matter.
As summer begins, we hope every student feels proud of how far they’ve come this year. And to our community — thank you for helping us make sure students could walk into school feeling supported, confident, and cared for.
Have a safe, joyful summer. 💚
