This Thursday, the Rotary Club of Bartram Trail - Julington Creek welcomes Dr. Vicky Basra — a nationally recognized champion for gender equality and the rights of girls.

As President & CEO of the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Dr. Basra has spent over two decades leading research, nonprofit innovation, and advocacy that changes lives. Her See the Girl: Open Doors program delivers critical support to survivors of commercial sexual exploitation — and her published research on Predatory Helpfulness in the Journal of Human Trafficking has shaped the field.

A Doctor of Social Work from the University of Tennessee and honored expert witness, Dr. Basra brings both rigorous scholarship and deep human impact to everything she does.

We're honored to have her. Join us this Thursday.

Join us this Thursday at Rotary as we welcome one of our favorite guest speakers, Brian Sexton!

In 1994, Jacksonville was awarded an expansion NFL franchise. One of their first moves was to hire the youngest-ever NFL radio play-by-play announcer… Brian Sexton, the “Voice of the Jaguars.”

Brian has called more than 400 professional football games, hosted more than a thousand coaches' radio and television shows, interviewed too many players to name, and spoken in front of tens of thousands of people as an emcee, facilitator, coach and keynote speaker. His high-energy presentations invigorate teams, and people love his engaging, powerful stories about the pros and how success is a choice.

We hope to see you there!

📣 Join us this Thursday at Rotary! 📣

We're welcoming a special guest: St. Johns County Property Appraiser Eddie Creamer. Eddie will walk us through the county's current property values, the remarkable growth we've seen over the past decade, and something on every homeowner's mind — property tax reform and ways to ease the financial impact of property taxes for Florida homeowners.

Whether you're a homeowner or just curious about where our community is headed, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. See you Thursday!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bartram Trail–Julington Creek, for receiving the prestigious Zone Award! 🎉

Daniela Chiriboga-Salazar, District Interact Chair, visited the club to present this meaningful recognition, which reflects the students’ dedication, leadership, and commitment to service throughout the year, as well as the support and guidance of their incredible school sponsor, Regan Ashker.

Before receiving the award, students were asked to reflect on the local and global issues they would most like to improve and to consider ways they can actively be part of that change. Our Club Secretary, Dan, shared examples of current and future local and global projects completed by to help inspire ideas for continued service and impact. Their projects throughout the year are a beautiful example of putting those ideas into action.

Included here are additional photos from:
💙 Teen Tech Night, where students helped members of the senior living community navigate technology so they can stay connected, communicate with loved ones, and remain engaged
💛 A roadside cleanup project focused on caring for and beautifying our local community

Thank you to these incredible young leaders for living out “Service Above Self” and creating meaningful impact both locally and beyond. We cannot wait to see all they continue to accomplish!

🌍 Join us this week at Rotary!

We have a very special meeting ahead — our Rotary Youth Exchange student, Ilinca Tanasescu, will be sharing her story with us!

Ilinca came to us all the way from Romania last summer and has spent the 2025–2026 school year right here in Fruit Cove, attending Creekside High School and immersing herself in our community. This week, she'll be reflecting on her exchange year — the experiences, the memories, and everything she's taken away from her time with us.

It's going to be a heartfelt meeting, and we'd love to have you there. Come hear Ilinca's story — and help us give her a proper send-off! 🇷🇴❤️

✨ Rotarian Spotlight ✨

Meet David Goldman - longtime Rotarian, dedicated community leader, and our current Assistant Governor!

David has been a Rotarian for 8 years. What started as a way to get involved outside of work quickly became a deeper passion for service and impact. His “why” evolved into simply: “Giving back to others.”

Now retired, David stays busy spending time with his wife Jeanne of 33 years, supporting Rotary, and enjoying passions like travel, cycling, hiking, kayaking, birding, and time with fellow Rotarians.

One of David’s favorite things to do is travel, and he loves finding Rotary connections around the world. Pictured here beside the statue of Giacomo Puccini in Lucca, a monument made possible through the local Rotary Club, he shared:
“Whenever I can find something related to Rotary, I have to smile!”

What he loves most about our club?
“The energy, friendships, and passion for helping others.”

Fun facts: David’s favorite president is Theodore Roosevelt, favorite authors are Andy Weir and John Scalzi, and one of his favorite quotes comes from Mark Twain:

“A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.”

(A quote that perfectly captures David’s wit and personality. 😄)

Drop a 💙 or 💛 in the comments and say hello to David!
