Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth—a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality. ❤️🖤💚

As we reflect on this important day, we also celebrate the legacy of James Weldon Johnson, whose work helped shape American history and culture.

Join us for a black history celebration tomorrow morning, bright and early, as we celebrate James Weldon Johnson's birthday. We will be hosting the JWJ Bday 5K and Block Party here in James Weldon Johnson Park. Check in for the 5K begins at 7:30 and the block party begins immediately after.

Happy Birthday, James Weldon Johnson! 🎉

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of a trailblazer whose impact continues to inspire generations. James Weldon Johnson was the first African American to pass the Florida Bar, a leader within the NAACP, an educator, author, diplomat, and co-creator of Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing alongside his brother, John Rosamond Johnson.

We are honored to carry his namesake and to steward the park that stands in the heart of the community he helped shape.

Join us this Saturday for the JWJ Bday 5K & Block Party as we celebrate his legacy, culture, and the history that continues to connect us. 🏃🏾‍♀️🎂✨

We are counting down the days to JWJ Bday 5K! The route "Along this Way," named after James Weldon Johnson's autobiography, is meant to be ran at party pace! Enjoy activities along the route including a station in Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Park then join us back in James Weldon Johnson Park after for the Block Party! There will be food trucks, games and activities, music from Rance Adams Media celebratory champagne and cupcakes for the runner, plus giveaway prizes and awards from the race! HUGE shout-out to VyStar Credit Union for sponsoring this event!
