Elated and ecstatic that Africa Codes is celebrating its second anniversary this year! Two years offering free classes in English, math, and coding to the wonderful and talented children of Senegal and still going strong. Here we are in the rural village of Kounkane enjoying the smiles and warmth of our eager learners! What a truly rewarding experience.

So delighted to see the amazing children of Senegal still having a blast while learning English and how to code at Africa Codes! More than a year after our non-profit opened its doors, children are still having a great time while acquiring important 21st century skills to have a brighter future. God is great. :-)

In Senegal, over 100,000 boys (ages 5 through 15) known as talibé are forced to beg for food and money each day. If they do not pay a daily quote to their marabout "guardians" they may be whipped or starved. We aim to rescue these children and help them achieve a bright future by building a safe school for them where they can receive a modern education.

It’s rewarding to see the children at the Friendship School in Fass Mbao, Dakar, putting the computers AFRICA CODES donated to good work. Hopefully, with the help of new donors and supporters we can provide them with 4 more computers so that the learning can continue to expand!

Last weekend AFRICA CODES kicked off its first-ever, annual Cyber-Film Month in Diamniadio, Senegal! Watching Iron Man together was a fun way to inspire the children in the community to learn about the importance of robotics and computers. Hopefully, the coding classes provided by our non-profit will help Senegal produce a real-life Tony Stark in the near future😊 A very special shout out to our platinum sponsor PNC Bank for helping to make this movie event a great success for the kids in Diamniadio!!

Yesterday, AFRICA CODES officially opened its second learning center in Senegal!!!
What an emotional day.
In less than a year we have launched two learning centers, partnered with a local school, and started teaching over 100 children (who had never before even touched, much less owned, a computer) how to code!
I am so grateful to those of you whose compassionate support has made these amazing milestones possible! Thanks to your generosity, children born in poverty are now learning English and coding skills which will hopefully give them a fighting chance to enjoy a better future. Again, my sincere thanks. I am convinced that our journey to help these wonderful children is just beginning, and the best is still yet to come!! (www.africacodes.org)

Had a GREAT day last Friday donating a WIFI modem and six new computers and tablets to a school located in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Dakar. Because of this donation, the school’s principal, Mrs. Ndieye, will be able to fulfill her dream of creating a small computer lab for her students! The smiles on these young children’s faces were priceless and will stay with me for a lifetime. On behalf of my non-profit, I want to thank everyone whose generous contributions to AFRICA CODES made this amazing day possible. Working together, we can make—and are already making—the world a better place!

After seeing and learning how to use a microscope for the first time, some of our students were so excited they spent an hour after class on Sunday learning more about how it works. Love their hunger for knowledge!
