Okoa Refuge Become a part of a movement that is transforming communities and stabilizing families through love.

Okoa Refuge is a 501(C)(3) formed in 2008 that rescues Abandoned and Orphaned Children in Uganda Okoa, through holistic care and creating family. Okoa provides the children the opportunities to be a kid, normalcy and a chance to break the cycle of poverty.

What can happen when you simply keep showing up?

Doors begin to open. Relationships are built. And lives begin to change.

Our missionary team continues traveling from community to community, sharing the Gospel, leading Discovery Bible Studies, equipping believers with Bibles, and walking alongside families.

Recently, hundreds gathered to watch Gospel films, 76 people accepted Jesus, and 30 believers took the next step of obedience through baptism.

Communities that were once difficult to reach are welcoming our team. Families are opening their doors. Children and adults are gathering to hear the Word of God.

There are still challenges - especially reliable transportation needed to continue reaching and following up with these communities - but our team continues to show up.

Please join us in praying for our missionaries, for reliable transportation, and for every person hearing the Gospel.

Because sometimes transformation begins with simply being willing to keep showing up.

Rescue is only the beginning.

When a child is rescued through Okoa Refuge’s GBV team, their health and safety come first. They receive immediate medical attention before being welcomed into a safe, family-style home surrounded by caregivers, social workers, and mentors.

From there, our team creates a care plan based on the child’s individual needs while working to determine the safest path forward - whether that means resettlement with a loving family or continued care at Okoa.

If returning home is not safe, the team works toward another appropriate short- or long-term placement. When necessary, we also provide counseling, legal support, and continued follow-up.

Because rescue is not simply about removing a child from danger - it is about walking beside them as healing begins and helping them move toward a safe, hope-filled future.

Because of your support, a little girl was rescued from abuse and connected with the medical care and safe shelter she needed. Our team also worked alongside local police to help secure the arrest of the alleged abuser.

Hydrotherapy is one of the therapy techniques used through our physiotherapy program to help children build strength, improve mobility, and develop greater balance and coordination.

The gentle support of the water allows children to practice movements with less strain on their bodies...creating a safe, encouraging environment where confidence can grow alongside physical progress.

Every movement is a step toward greater strength, independence, and hope.

Akwira Berea Community Church began beneath a tree - with a small group of believers, a prayer, and a desire to bring the Gospel to their community.

Today, the church has grown to 84 members, with 20 believers baptized and 8 new converts recently joining the congregation.

During our visit to Te-Oonga Village in Northern Uganda, we also had the privilege of distributing Bibles - equipping believers with God’s Word for discipleship, family ministry, and sharing the Gospel.

Our Church Planting and Church Health teams do more than help establish churches. We strengthen their foundations, equip leaders, support discipleship, and walk alongside each church as it grows.

This is what can happen when faithful believers continue gathering, praying, and sharing the Gospel - one life at a time.

Right now, these rooms may appear simple, bare, and unfinished - but each item represents something far greater.

And this month, that mission is growing even further. Three new Bible Schools are opening in Benin, Central African Republic, and Cameroon - bringing Okoa Refuge’s Bible School ministry to 11 countries!

This is more than a building being furnished. It is a ministry taking root - a place where faith will grow, communities will be brought hope, and lives will be changed.
It may not look like much yet, but God often begins His greatest work in humble places.
