We agree with this insight that was recently shared by Junk Drawer Band:
"I'll catch you next time you play there!"
How many times have you said that to a friend in a band? I'm sure you had every intention on being there. "Next time" is a hazardous trap. "Next time" turns into messages that start off like this:
"I wanted to personally reach out and let you know that we are having to make the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming bookings."
You see, most venues and especially live music venues are running on razor thin margins. Every dollar is essential to keeping the lights on and the doors open. "I'll catch you next time" leads to there not being a next time. I don't fault the owners and managers who have to weigh this decision. Hell, karaoke, DJs, and solo acts can run for 1/3 or less of the cost of a live band. They have nobody to split the money with and minimal costs.
If you enjoy live music and want to ensure that there are still places to go catch your favorite acts, get out there and patronize the small places that host bands. Don't wait for "next time". The bills and shrinking profit margins won't wait.

It's almost October so you've probably already guessed that we won't be having a Boobsapalooza this year.
Hopefully, if all goes well, there will be a Boobsapalooza 2027.
Until next year, we will continue to recognize the caring, Great local bands who help us raise on our First Coast!
