👏 Student voices. Student leadership. A stronger community.

We’re still smiling after Thursday’s student-led forum for Hillsborough County School Board Seats 2 and 6! Take a look at these moments from an evening of conversation, civic engagement, and outstanding student leadership. 📸

A huge shout-out to the Robinson High School Student Advocacy Club members who helped organize, host, and moderate the event. From welcoming attendees to asking thoughtful questions and guiding the discussion, these students brought preparation, professionalism, and confidence to every part of the evening. They were amazing! 💛

Students deserve a voice in the decisions that shape their education and these young leaders showed how meaningful that voice can be. They helped our community learn about the candidates’ priorities while keeping the conversation focused on our public schools.

Thank you to the candidates who participated, everyone who joined us, and our partners at Robinson High School PTSA and the League of Women Voters of Hillsborough and Pasco Counties for making this nonpartisan voter-education event possible.

TAKE ACTION: Keep Guns Out of Vehicles on Duval School Grounds
Families, we need your voices. The Duval County School Board is considering a policy change that would allow guns in vehicles on school grounds. This is a serious school safety decision, and it should not be rushed through without input from the families, educators, and employees who make up our school community.

🚨 Duval families - We need your voices! The School Board is considering a policy change that would allow guns in vehicles on school grounds. Cars are already the largest source of stolen guns in the country. Bringing more fi****ms onto school property creates an unnecessary risk for students and employees.

A decision this serious should not be rushed through without meaningful input from families and educators.

We adamantly oppose this change. Take a minute to email the School Board and tell them: Keep guns off our school grounds.

Vote the Whole Ballot, but first, Register Today!
Today, October 5, is the last day to register to vote in the November 3 election.
School board races matter, but they are not the only elections that affect public education.
Important decisions may appear throughout your ballot, including:

Congressional and state legislative races
County and judicial offices
School board races
Constitutional amendments
Local referenda
Don’t stop after the first few races. Register today, review your sample ballot, research every choice, and make a plan to vote on or before November 3.
Public schools serve every community and every voter has a role in protecting them.

“The lesson from Florida and other universal voucher states is clear: When public funds flow to unaccountable private interests, children and taxpayers both lose. Scholarship funding organizations cannot say where thousands of children are on any given day, let alone prove those children are learning more than their public school peers. The federal tax credit voucher scheme will only deepen these problems at an even greater cost to taxpayers. “

📚 “Free money” for education? Follow the dollars.

In its latest blog post, Accountabaloney Florida draws on Florida’s voucher expansion to offer five predictions for the new federal voucher program—and raises a critical question:

Will funding that benefits public-school students actually reach public-school budgets?

The post examines who could benefit most, whether wealthier communities will have an advantage, and what this expansion could mean while public schools continue waiting for Congress to meet its special education funding commitment.
