🇺🇸🔥 SOME OF THE BEST CONVERSATIONS START AT THE RANGE AND CONTINUE AROUND THE DINNER TABLE!

That's exactly what happened when we welcomed American Legion Post 81 of Jackson, Ohio, to Base Camp Alpha!

We had the pleasure of hosting their monthly meeting, enjoying a pistol shoot and demonstration, touring our growing facilities, and most importantly, breaking bread with fellow veterans.

A special THANK YOU to Commander Kevin B. Compston, Adjutant Gregory A. Ervin, Marshall Bately, and all the Post 81 members who joined us!

It was an honor to share our story, showcase the progress we've made, and spend time with people who understand the value of service, camaraderie, and looking after one another.

This is what Base Camp Alpha is all about. Bringing people together, strengthening friendships, and reminding our veterans that the brotherhood doesn't end when the uniform comes off.

To our friends at Post 81, thank you for your fellowship, your continued service, and for spending time with us. Our gates and campfire are always open to you! 🇺🇸🔥

🦌🇺🇸 TWO DEER HARVESTED. FOUR BROTHERS MADE. 🇺🇸🦌

Our first 2026 Base Camp Alpha Trophy Deer Hunt is officially in the books.

We welcomed four men to Base Camp Alpha who came from different places, different backgrounds, and different branches of service. They arrived with bows and crossbows, hoping for an opportunity at a Jackson County deer.

Two hunters filled their tags.

But if you ask us whether the weekend was successful, that isn't the number we'll remember.

We'll remember the laughter coming from camp. The relentless branch-to-branch trash talking. The meals shared together. The stories that probably shouldn't ever leave the campfire. 😂

And we'll remember the moments when the joking stopped and the conversations got a little deeper.

Four men arrived at Base Camp Alpha as strangers.

Four brothers left.

That's the part that is difficult to capture in photographs or a one-minute video—but it's the reason these weekends matter.

To Jeff Hortman, Charles Herman, Joshua Dearth, and Steve Deweese: thank you for trusting us with your weekend and for bringing exactly what makes these hunts special. You guys will always have a place around our fire.

And to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, friend, and supporter who makes it possible for us to provide these experiences at no cost to our veterans and first responders—this is what you're supporting.

You aren't simply helping us take people hunting.

You're helping us create a place where people can reconnect.

Sometimes healing doesn't happen in a clinic or a classroom.

Sometimes it begins around a campfire. 🔥🇺🇸

’Twas the night before the hunt, and all through the woods,
Not a creature was stirring… at least none that should.

The stands had been checked and the trails walked with care,
In hopes that some Jackson County giants soon would be there.

The cabins were ready, the campfire stacked high,
While a cool October evening settled over the sky.

The bows had been sighted, the broadheads were set,
And the bucks in the timber had no idea what was coming yet. 😏🦌

Tomorrow, four hunters make their way to Base Camp Alpha for our first 2026 Trophy Deer Hunt Weekend.

But after doing this for several years, we know something those big bucks don't…

The hunt gets everyone here.
The campfire is usually where the good stuff happens.

Safe travels tomorrow, gentlemen.

The cabins are ready.
The woods are waiting.
And hopefully those Jackson County bucks aren't reading Facebook tonight. 😂

🦌🇺🇸 Let the 2026 season begin.

❄️🔥 ANOTHER BIG STEP FOR BASE CAMP ALPHA! 🔥❄️

Today, another major piece of our Reception & Merchandise Building came together, and it happened because two great companies chose to work together in support of our mission.

A huge THANK YOU to Custom Air Heating & Cooling Experts and MJB Electric Service Corp. Through their partnership, our new building now has a professionally installed Mitsubishi mini-split system, giving us reliable heating and cooling throughout the year.

We want to personally recognize Sam Wiles and Jake Riley of Custom Air, along with our now very familiar friend and MJB “Essential Employee” Joe Baesmann, for completing today's installation. These guys brought their experience, equipment, and hard work to Base Camp Alpha and got the job done.

This building will eventually be one of the first stops for the veterans, first responders, and families who come through our gates. Having a comfortable, functional space to welcome them, provide information, and support our merchandise and fundraising efforts is another important investment in the long-term future of BCA.

To Custom Air—thank you for stepping into this project and investing in our mission. And to MJB Electric, thank you for continuing to stand beside us and for helping bring another great community partner to Base Camp Alpha.

Sam, Jake, and Joe—you guys knocked it out of the park. Thank you. 🇺🇸

When businesses choose to donate their resources and skilled professionals choose to donate their time, they aren't simply improving a building—they're helping us build the infrastructure that keeps this mission moving forward.

🦌🇺🇸 OUR FIRST 2026 TROPHY DEER HUNT GROUP IS OFFICIAL! 🇺🇸🦌

All four hunters have confirmed, and we’re proud to announce those joining us at Base Camp Alpha October 2–4, 2026:

🦌 Jeff Hortman
🦌 Charles Herman
🦌 Joshua Dearth
🦌 Steve Deweese

This year, we received more than 250 applications from veterans and first responders across the country. We are incredibly grateful to every person who applied, shared their story, and trusted us with a little piece of their journey.

And we’re not finished yet. Additional Base Camp Alpha hunt opportunities are still ahead for the 2026 season.

For Jeff, Charles, Joshua, and Steve—the cabins are ready and the woods are waiting.

The hunt may bring them to Base Camp Alpha, but as we’ve learned over the years, some of the best moments happen back at camp.

Congratulations, gentlemen. We’ll see you in October! 🇺🇸🦌
