On September 11, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and a nation that came together.

May we honor them by choosing kindness, loving one another, and remembering what truly matters.

It costs nothing to be kind. ❤️🇺🇸

Today, while shopping at Kroger for my aunt, I handed out a few of my little baby Jesuses and kindness stickers.

I gave one to two little girls, and their mom smiled and said, “They were just talking last night about wanting a baby Jesus.”

I just stood there and smiled. Moments like that remind me that God has a way of putting people in the right place at the right time. What looked like a simple trip to the grocery store became a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a purpose we never see coming.

I’ll never know why those girls were asking for a baby Jesus the night before, but I know today they got one.

God is so good.

It costs nothing to be kind. ❤️

Tuesday, I got a speeding ticket.

Was I speeding? Yep.

Could I have argued? Maybe.

Would it have changed anything? Probably not.

The officer walked up and said, “You look familiar.”

I laughed and said, “Nope. I think I’ve got a doppelgänger.”

When he came back with the ticket, he had actually reduced the speed he wrote down, which helped with the points. He didn’t have to do that.

Before he walked away, I handed him one of my little baby Jesuses and a Choose Love Not Hate sticker.

I smiled and said, “God must have really wanted you to have this because I never speed on this road.”

Then I thanked him and told him to have a great day.

Here’s what I’ve learned…

We don’t get to choose every situation we find ourselves in.

We do get to choose how we treat people.

It’s easy to be kind when life is going our way. The real test is whether we’re kind when it isn’t.

A speeding ticket isn’t the end of the world. My attitude, though—that was completely my choice.

It costs nothing to be kind.

Today my heart is broken.

Yesterday, we lost our sweet Honey. For 14 years, she filled our home with wagging tails, happy dances, unconditional love, and the occasional chase after a cat she was absolutely convinced she could catch.

The house feels quieter today.

As I sat thinking about her, I couldn’t help but picture her running again. No pain. No stiffness. No slowing down. Just running through fields that never end, chasing cats that finally have a head start, and enjoying every second of it.

I know some people will say dogs are “just animals,” but anyone who has ever loved one knows better. They become family. They teach us loyalty, forgiveness, joy, and how to love without expecting anything in return.

Honey’s life reminds me of something we talk about often here: love matters. Every act of love matters. Every life touched by love matters.

So today, hug your people a little tighter. Love a little bigger. Be a little kinder.

And if you think about it, say a little prayer for our family. We sure miss our girl.
