The VFW Department of Mississippi carries on through COVID-19

As the world is shaken by the pandemic known as COVID-19, many of our daily habits and routines can no longer continue as they normally would. The VFW has been effected as much as any other organization through this difficult time. Many VFW Posts rely on bingo, venue rentals and canteens to financially support the post’s programs. We are happy to see our state reopening and we can’t wait for the day that we can resume normal human interactions. We must however remain on alert to the treats of this virus. Our posts have been directed to follow government regulations and guidelines regarding social distancing.

In an effort to reduce the spread of the virus and protect our members, the Mississippi VFW State Convention was not held as planned in Tupelo. Our leadership committee felt that it would be unwise to gather hundreds of VFW members from throughout the state. Our next statewide meeting is scheduled for August and we still intend to meet as of now. We will be monitoring the situation closely.

The VFW continues its mission to help veterans. If you would like to volunteer your time to help veterans please contact us for information on the post nearest to you. If you know of a veteran in need, please let us know. The Mississippi VFW is #StillServing our Veterans!
