MSHA remains committed to keeping our members informed of any policy or legislative developments as soon as information becomes available. We will continue to provide updates on this matter as clarity emerges, recognizing its importance to our members. 🙌

At this time, there is no new information or formal guidance to report regarding the implementation of Mississippi Senate Bill 2103 and the definition of “special educators.” MSHA continues to monitor developments closely and will share updates as soon as additional clarity is provided by the Mississippi Department of Education or other state leadership.

The SLPA Task Force met today at the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) to continue discussions on establishing an educator license for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs). Since December 2025, this collaborative effort between MSHA and MDE, with additional input from ASHA, has focused on developing potential licensure and supervision requirements to support the future of the profession in Mississippi.
Today marked the final meeting of the task force as a whole. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and dedication throughout this important process.
