Keynote Speaker Spotlight: Kevin Simmons, M.S., CCC-SLP 🎤

Join us at the 2026 MSHA Annual Conference as Kevin Simmons, a pediatric speech-language pathologist and sensory barber, takes the stage as our keynote speaker. With a passion for serving youth and his community, Kevin brings expertise in sensory integration, music-based interventions, AAC, and treating childhood apraxia of speech.

His session, Therapeutic Harmony: Evidence-Based Music and Sensory Interventions for Speech, will explore innovative, evidence-based strategies to support communication and engagement in pediatric populations. 🎶

📣 Your Voice Matters: Advocate on Capitol Hill

On September 23, MSHA member Elizabeth Burklow, EdD, CCC-SLP will represent Mississippi as part of the ASHA Committee of Ambassadors during Capitol Hill Day.

Elizabeth and other Mississippi MSHA members participating will have the opportunity to meet with Mississippi’s congressional representatives and advocate for the individuals we serve across our state.

You can help make your voice heard, too. ASHA is inviting members to write a letter sharing their concerns about healthcare, education, and other issues affecting the people we serve. Letters submitted by September 10 will be printed by ASHA and hand-delivered to representatives during Capitol Hill Day.
