🎬 Out today! 399 Forever, a new documentary exploring the life and legacy of Grand Teton's most famous grizzly bear, is now available to watch on Amazon.

Directed by Alex Stavrou, the film follows Grizzly 399 through the final year of her life, alongside the photographers, wildlife guides, and conservationists who spent years documenting her story.

Beyond celebrating 399's remarkable life, the documentary explores the complicated relationship between humans and wildlife and the importance of protecting grizzly bears and their habitat.

We're grateful to the filmmakers for continuing to share 399's story and encouraging conversations about wildlife conservation.

Wyoming Wh***ey is also honoring her legacy with the second edition of its Queen of the Tetons collection, with proceeds from every bottle sold benefiting Grand Teton National Park Foundation in support of bear conservation.

Join us for a volunteer planting day in Grand Teton National Park! 🌱

On Friday, October 16, help the park's vegetation team restore native sagebrush habitat in Antelope Flats near Mormon Row. Volunteers will plant native species grown from seeds collected in the park, helping restore ecological function to this important landscape.

When: Friday, October 16 | 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Volunteers are welcome to stop by anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and stay for as long as their schedules allow.

Please bring water, snacks, sunscreen, bear spray, and anything else you may need to stay comfortable outdoors. All planting tools will be provided.

So you've heard of glaciers... but have you ever seen a rock glacier? Grand Teton has more than 30 of them, actually!

Unlike traditional glaciers, rock glaciers are covered in thick layers of rock and debris that insulate the ice beneath. These formations can store significant amounts of ice and provide cold water to alpine streams later into the summer.

With funding from Grand Teton National Park Foundation, park scientists began inventorying these formations in 2025 to better understand their movement, ice storage, and role in alpine ecosystems.

As surface glaciers continue to shrink, understanding rock glaciers is becoming increasingly important. Read more about the research underway in Grand Teton and what scientists are learning about these formations in our latest blog at the link in our bio.

all has brought some big conservation wins to Grand Teton over the years.

In 2016 and 2024, the Foundation helped acquire the Antelope Flats and Kelly parcels, ultimately donating both to Grand Teton National Park and permanently protecting 1,280 acres.

Support through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Acres for America program with helped make both acquisitions possible. Alongside many partners and donors, this funding helped conserve important wildlife habitat, migration corridors, and open space within the park.

Acres for America works with conservation organizations across the country to help keep important landscapes intact for wildlife and people.

The String Lakers (otherwise known as the “Lakers”) wrapped up another summer of roving at String Lake, helping keep one of Grand Teton’s most beloved picnic areas safe for visitors and wildlife alike.

Across the park, Foundation-supported volunteer programs played an important role throughout the year. From helping visitors navigate the Snake River and backcountry trails to managing wildlife jams and sharing information about responsible recreation, volunteers were a welcoming and knowledgeable presence in some of the park’s busiest places.

As another busy summer season comes to a close, we’re grateful for the volunteers who give their time to care for Grand Teton and help visitors experience the park safely and responsibly.

Fall is settling into Grand Teton, and with it comes a shift in park operations. 🍂

From October through April, some roads, all campgrounds, and most visitor facilities close or operate on reduced schedules. Swipe through for some important seasonal dates to keep in mind.

Grand Teton remains open year-round, and the transition to winter brings new ways to experience the park. The Foundation will once again support winter grooming on Teton Park Road, providing opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and winter recreation. Grooming is expected to begin in mid-December, conditions dependent.

It’s that time of year again, and wildlife are moving and grooving across Grand Teton, particularly at dawn and dusk.

With fall migration underway, it’s an especially important time to stay alert behind the wheel. Slow down, keep an eye on the road and surrounding landscape, and remember that wildlife can appear quickly and move unpredictably.

And when your commutes look a little like this, give wildlife plenty of space and time to move along safely. 🦬 🫎

42 miles of trail to maintain. Grand Teton’s trail crew is on it! 🥾⛏️

This season, trail renewal work has continued along sections of the Teton Crest Trail near Marion Lake and into Granite, Paintbrush, and Cascade Canyons.

Originally built in sections nearly a century ago, the Teton Crest Trail carries hikers through some of the most rugged terrain in Grand Teton. Keeping this iconic route in good condition takes continual care, from rebuilding trail tread and improving drainage to moving rock and repairing sections worn by years of use.

This work is part of a much bigger season for Grand Teton’s trail crew. From the Teton Crest Trail to major improvements near Taggart Lake, crews have been hard at work maintaining and renewing trails across the park.

Supporting Grand Teton’s trail system is a longstanding priority for the Foundation, helping ensure these incredible places can continue to be explored and enjoyed for years to come.
