Top Cop Donation Strengthens First Responder Resilience
The donation that Top Cop gave to the Amador Chaplains helped fund a 3-day professional training course of Group Crisis Intervention & Assisting Individuals in Crisis taught by an ICISF International Critical Incident Stress Foundation instructor.
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) is a program designed to equip law enforcement, fire, EMS, and dispatch personnel with the tools to process and manage the emotional and psychological impact of traumatic events.
The Chaplaincy has formed a team, Critical Incident Response Team, which is founded on the ICISF format with peer support from our local Amador County Sheriff’s Office Peer Support, Amador Fire Protection Department Peer Support, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Peer Support, and American Legion Ambulance EMS Peer Support. The Mission statement for our CIRT is “To provide county wide support, always be ready to serve and be a resource for each other.”
These classes are essential for our Peer and Chaplain teams. First responders face situations most people can’t imagine, and this training helps ensure they remain healthy, resilient, and ready to serve the community. We are deeply grateful to Top Cop for recognizing this need and investing in the well-being of our teams.
We also would like to thank Amador County Sheriff Foundation, How 2 Love R Cops and the Amador Chaplains for sponsoring lunch for the 3-day training. We were well fed and honored by their support.
The donation, support and attendance reflect a growing recognition of the importance of mental health and wellness among public safety professionals, by investing in the resilience of first responders.
If you are interested in supporting or volunteering for either a CIRT or Chaplaincy position, please reach out to [email protected].
Supporting first responders is at the heart of what we do. They take care of us in our most difficult moments, and it’s only right that we take care of them, too.
Thank You again to Top Cop, Amador County Sheriff Foundation, How 2 Love R Cops and the Amador Chaplains.
