Hello

Having been discharged from parole April 10th, I have begun touching base with those I left behind. When on parole release, the Michigan Parole Board only approved me to write one prisoner from a list of thirty that I wanted to write. After 38 years in prison, many of them became like family members to me. It really hurt when I could not interact with them for two years when I was on parole release. Yet, I also respect the Michigan Department of Corrections decision for me to get my own life back on track out here over the past two years.

I am over the moon every time that I get a JPAY message from them, a telephone call, or snail mail.

Soon I will be reaching out to other nonprofits to do a Facts and Realities About Incarcerated Life presentation along with a Questions and Answers segment. The more citizens and community leaders and elected officials know about the incarcerated world, the better decisions and public policy will emerge. Enlightening the populace is my number one objective as a former prisoner and now Citizen Jami Day 24.

We DO NOT HAVE 501(c)(3) status at this time. We are working on it. We are officially incorporated as a nonprofit in the state of Michigan as of about Mother's Day last year (05-15).

is a new nonprofit on the scene yet a lifetime of studious thought went into its 2025 incorporation in the state of Michigan.

We are diligently working to develop the initial vision for the rest of this year and where we would like to be in one, three and five years from now.

Once the semi-final draft of the initial vision is done, it will be shared with others for comment, feedback, suggestions, guidance, direction and the marketing campaign will be in full swing.

One of the speakers emphasized that life is not fair. Melissa Miles agreed with him. Others agreed with him too. I also heard that saying in my journey of life too. However, I disagree with them. Life, my friends, is what we make it to be. As Melissa tells Kingston, her five year old, "you have to make better choices." If there is something in your life that you feel is not fair, then do something about it to make it fair. Sometimes we want more and feel that life is not fair. However, do we think about what we have? Do we have what we need? Do we have loving, caring and nurturing people in our lives? Then, how is life not fair? Maybe we should work with what we have and to make it better...food for thought if you will! may provide some further insight.
