Happy Pride Month!

We are grateful for our LGBTQ members, friends, and neighbors and all the many ways they make our lives and our congregation better.

There are a variety of ways the Christian Church has responded to LGBTQ folk over the years (many of them harmful). So, we want to be explicitly clear:

As a Christian community following the way of Jesus and called to the work of peace and justice, we invite you to join us around God’s table.

We affirm that people of any race, ethnic identity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, economic status, or life situation are welcome, valued, and invited to full participation in the life of the congregation.

At Open Door, you are all welcome, and all of you is welcome.

A Holy Week(end) reflection from Pastor Hugh.

"A lot of time, we feel the absence of God far more than the presence of God. In times like these, we feel alone and afraid and wonder where God is. Like Jesus, we cry out to God, asking why we are alone. And like Jesus, we don’t get answers.

Because for the disciples, it’s Friday—and that’s it. They don’t know what Sunday will bring. They don’t know that love will have the final say. They don’t know that two thousand years from now, we will gather and sing “Up From The Grave He Arose!” and shouted Hallelujah.

All they know is fear and desperation and hopelessness."
