The Skills That Pay Initiative is a public affairs campaign aimed at increasing high school students’ awareness of the many great career opportunities available in skilled industries like advanced manufacturing, energy, and healthcare. Surveys show students lack awareness of these jobs and have a negative perception of them, believing they are low-paying or low-quality careers – two common but ina

ccurate beliefs. The Skills Foundation is proud to announce their brand new initiative, Skills That Pay, a campaign to educate key stakeholders on the many opportunities in Hattiesburg and throughout the State. We will target parents, educators, industry and community leaders, influencers, and students, empowering a coalition to help share the message to encourage people to consider these high-quality career pathways.

A wonderful evening with even better company!

We had a fantastic turnout for the Skills Foundation Rooftop Reception on August 18th! What a fun time connecting with such great people who share our commitment to expanding career opportunities and helping more Mississippians build the skills that pay!

Last week, we celebrated 12 outstanding students from across Northeast Mississippi at Itawamba Community College as they took the next step toward careers in the skilled workforce. From welding to advanced manufacturing to construction, these students are stepping into careers that power Mississippi.
