We wanted to take a moment to once again give a big THANK YOU to the residents who took the time to come out and vote yesterday.

Preliminary results show our budget and referendum passing. We will update when all mail in votes are counted.

We would also like to congratulate Fire Commissioners Joe Burdge and Bryan Quackenbush on being reelected!

We can’t do any of this without the support of the community and for that we are grateful.

Stay safe through the impending winter storm.

By now you may have seen an article in reference to the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department.

Unfortunately, due to a shortage of volunteers that spans the nation, the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Company made the difficult decision to cease operations. They did not come to this decision lightly or in haste. In 1984 US volunteer firefighter numbers reached nearly 900,000. As of 2020, that number has dropped to approximately 677,000 despite the population increasing by 40% since that time.

Here are some answers to questions we have seen since the release of this article:
- Station 57 (located on Hope Chapel Rd.) will continue to be staffed by the district’s career firefighters.
- There are no plans to sell the firehouse.
- Career firefighters are not a new addition to Jackson Fire District 2. We hired our first career firefighter in 1981 and have increased to our current staffing of 12 career firefighters who work 24 hour shifts.
- Fire District’s 2 and 3 are actively working on consolidating to better serve Jackson Township.

Jackson Fire District 2 is committed to providing the best service we can to Jackson Township. For us to achieve this, we need your help. Currently our career staff is broken into 4 platoons of 3 firefighters.
February 21st we are seeking referendum to increase our platoons to 4 firefighters and hire an additional fire inspector for our Bureau.
Voting is from 2pm - 10pm at 785 Miller Ave. Firehouse.
With your help we will be able to serve you to the best of our ability!

Staffing Matters!

Jackson Fire District No. 2 and Local 114 made some moves in 2025!
We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings!

2025 was a year of tremendous growth for Jackson Fire District 2.

District wide we responded to 1,575 calls for service, 13% higher than 2024.

The Cassville Volunteer Fire Company #1 responded to 540 calls for service.

The Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department responded to 468 calls for service.

Fire District Career Firefighters responded to 916 calls for service, 338 of which were EMS First Responder calls.

July 13th our Career Firefighters moved to 24/7/365 coverage of fire response, the first 24 hour shifts in township history.

November 1st we joined Jackson Fire District No. 3 on the First Due Fire and EMS Software to help streamline inventory, reporting, response systems, maintenance, and more.

December 1st we extended our EMS First Responder coverage to 24 hours a day.

February 21, 2026 from 2pm - 10pm residents are encouraged to vote to fund the township fire districts and continue this growth. With your help we will be able to serve you to the best of our ability!
More information will be provided in future posts.

We look forward to serving the residents and visitors of Jackson Township in 2026!

Earlier this week Local 114 held their Holiday Party. It was a fun night for our members, their families, the administrator, and fire district commissioners, and Santa even stopped by with some gifts!!

2025 has been a year of more growth for the Jackson Fire Service. We are proud of this growth that allows us to better serve the township of Jackson.

We would like to thank our Board of Fire Commissioners and administrator for the great working relationship we’ve maintained with the common goal of serving our residents and visitors.

We wish everyone a happy and safe holidays, and a happy new year!
